The person largely stayed at home in a voluntary self-imposed quarantine
"Largely" really doesn't cut it. It's a pretty binary proposition. They were either quarantined or out and about. Same with the people they live with.
I think it's clear that it is going to be spread in the area through community transmission. We just haven't been testing. We just gotta keep the spread slow enough.
Time to cancel everything imho
Seriously, either we address this and chill for 2-3 weeks or we live in absolute chaos for the next few months
Economies going to take a beating either way, might as well try to preserve our health
I feel like we're consigning the country to a year long pandemic with millions of deaths because of our unwillingness to just copy china's response exactly. China's successfully limited this thing to 1/1000th of it's possible spread and we seem committed to allowing it to become fullblown because of muh freedom
It's also worth pointing out that after a slow start, and initial efforts at the local level to suppress information about the virus, the Chinese central government took drastic actions, interrupting the lives of hundreds of millions, and probably throwing the economy into recession. These actions bought the world community a month to prepare.
And in the US, we squandered it, leaving us with a very limited ability to test for the virus, mismanaging quarantines, and allowing the virus to gain a foothold, probably undetected for at least a couple weeks.
Yeah and no word if this person has a kid or anything.
It's crazy to me that there hasn't been one case reported in SF county yet.
If you have friends who work in SF hospitals, they will definitely confirm there are. The cases just haven’t been made publicly.
I hate this
"Largely" is the worrying part.

Step 1) Cornonavirus. Increased boomer mortality rates.
Step 2) ?
Step 3) Millenials Profit. Housing problems solved. ^^/s
Because nobody’s got parents or grandparents, right?
Not since SARS lol
I will reward your sarcasm with an upvote, kind person.
My Parents died when net neutrality was repealed.
I'm sorry for your packet loss
Houses are inherited though. Boomer landlords become Millenial landlords. We still aren't building enough housing or other spaces in this city
Just... go away please? Stop being a fucking property vulture. Or be one of those people who airs a radio ad for properties that they’ll buy no matter what circumstances are involved.

Too late. Maybe other places shouldn’t allow anyone from the Bay Area now.
We better make sure to close the barn door now that all our horses are running around the farm!
We need to ban troll (like you) for life
Are you a time traveler from 6 weeks ago?
So convenient all these cases have “remained largely at home” or “self quarantined” after coming home from a trip...
Aside from the airplanes they were on and airports they transited.
Why is this surprising? Do you generally go out when you're sick? Let alone during the past few months?
You may not have symptoms for some time and take public transit/come to office/do grocery shopping/etc.
how do you transmit without coughing and shit?
For example, when you breath.
Yeah actually. I think most people do. I can’t afford to miss work. Of course if I have a fever I stay home but you are usually contagious before you get to that point too
Yes lol
A few weeks ago, I was sick. I was able to video chat with my doctor (who thinks I had the flu) but I still had to leave home to get medicine.
I left a second time to pickup medicine for my kids - tamiflu can be given to infants as prophylaxis.
Otherwise, I was home.

My boss was sick about a week ago and we just had a meeting of him telling us not to come to work if we're sick. I'll gladly take two weeks off if I felt like I was coming down with something.
It's much better to hear that than "I don't know where I got it", which is fucking terrifying (in Santa Clara).
Odds are way more people have it than the media is reporting bc a lot of people aren’t getting tested. It’s just a way to mitigate panic
I don’t even believe it at this point. Bullshit they stayed at home nonstop. They say that to discourage panic, and because people would avoid the businesses the person frequented. It’s economic protection to say “they didnt go anywhere, so it’s safe to keep going out and SPENDING!”
I totally agree. Like none of these people had jobs, a need for income or food? Give me a break
