Several years ago I approached a group of confused French tourists on bikes who were in the middle of the Castro. They told me they were looking for the mason bleue and looked at me like I had three heads when I did not know what they were talking about. "You know, the blue house from the song". Turns out maison bleue is a house immortalized in a very popular french song about living the life in SF in the 70's. Its a must see for many french tourists visiting SF. Its so popular in France that several years ago, the French consulate in SF partnered with the locals to help keep it painted and maintained when it was looking a little shabby.

Half the time I walk by it (which is often) there are French people outside. Charming. Hope the new owner loves the history and keeps the house blue!

I’ve helped a couple of French people in the Castro who were looking for this house before. It’s pretty well known among people of a certain age.

I like how the listing doesn't mention anything about the house's fame. I imagine some random person buying it and then being mystified by the crowds of French tourists.

I noticed that too. IIRC there have been a few other notable addresses in the city where the buyers were unaware of the place's significance, and then caught off guard by the number of gawkers.
