This is also u/nalc 's idea in a very recent post.

Trentin's tweet (with a much shorter url...) is even shared there!

Come join the fun trying to put together a course!

I was thinking about doing 1 week in each country.

Greatest hits Grand Tour.

That's what we're working on in the other thread, come contribute what you've come up with so far!

Sorry, I had missed that!

Whatever this guy says, I'm listening. Watch the GCN Italia interview with him. He's such a sensible, normal guy.

For the fans it's a great idea. The organisers who want a slice of the revenue, not so much.

Why ? Surely Giro and Tour organizers will take a week of their respective Tours over nothing at all.

It would make a pretty special Tour.

I agree they should but I can't see them uniting to run a grand, grand tour

Especially since The Tour De France brand in itself is a powerhouse above anything else

Yeah, ASO would probably profit more by simply postponing the Tour and ditching the Vuelta. It is the stronger brand by orders of magnitude. Sharing that revenue with the Giro folks would be an accounting nightmare.

Still, it is the stuff that dreams are made from and this year is the best chance we’ve had in a century of seeing one unified Grand Tour, and a combined pink/red/yellow jersey.

Under the circumstances, I can certainly get behind this.

Would late September be too late for a 3-week GT (assuming life everywhere somehow starts to go back to normal well before then)?

I’m still hoping there’s gonna be a normal Tour and Vuelta but I’m not sure about the odds.
