No automatic framerate matching for non-4k fireTV stick?

Solved!

I received my non-4k fireTV stick today and, after 3 (THREE) consecutive updates, I discover that it doesn't have automatic framerate switching??? What the hell?

I precisely bought this thing after seeing a bunch of articles from 2018 claiming it had been added as a feature, but apparently that was only for the 4k variant? How does this even make sense?

This is so stupid it offends me, honestly. It's not like Amazon markets this feature for their flagship device, so I don't see why it should be the only one having it. It makes zero sense.

This is such a basic feature I consider this piece of trash basically unusable now. So much for smart TV, this thing misses dumb TV features for god's sake.

And the worst part is that I found no complaints on the Internet about this! How do you all deal with this? I was watching something I think was 25fps before and that made me want to tear my eyes out

Return your Fire Stick to Amazon and buy the 4K variant. Problem solved.

Fire stick 2nd gen runs Android 5 (Lollipop)

Fire stick 4k runs Android 7 (Nougat)

Android itself didn't have AFR switching until Android 7

Ok, but that just means they shouldn't sell hardware running software from 6 years ago that isn't capable of providing one of the most basic features for the task they sell the device for.

Thank you, though

Call Amazon see if you can return your device and get the 4k stick instead. Complaining on Reddit is less than useless

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out something, there was no mention of this anywhere I could find
