Sometimes I feel so detached from this world. I don’t fit in anywhere and being CF doesn’t help. Sometimes I feel like I just need someone to tell me I’m doing alright.

SUPPORT

It’s dumb I know. I’m a full grown adult in their mid 30s and I have a job and all that. I’m a passionate person and I love my life. Not that I believe in meanings of life but I enjoy spending time on my interests. I don’t want kids for many reasons but mostly I don’t want to shape another living being into something that suits my fantasy it feels wrong. Also I dislike kids with their screams and teens with their puberty. So yes I made up my mind. But being off the mainstream, sometimes I feel so much loneliness. It’s not that I want to go out with a bunch of people talking about something in common. It’s more like the occasional “fuck am I the only one thinking this way? Am I insane!?” Right now this is triggered cuz a close relative has popped her kids recently and there are baby photos everywhere. Sometimes I just wish there’s someone wise and powerful telling me “you are insane, sure. I mean.. look at you! but you are also doing alright”.

Get the fuck off Facebook and unfollow the baby barrage.

What you see in pictures is FAKE bullshit.

The reality is that don’t post the pictures of the misery, they don’t post their exponentially growing debt, they don’t talk about pissing themselves constantly, and they probably didn’t have money to eat a decent dinner.

If you want reality go time/deadbedrooms or scarymommy

I still have a hard time believing people are lying on the internet!!! Okay yeah I know it’s my own fault... I don’t even use Facebook... I only check my Instagram feeds once a month to give “likes” to relatives so they are not pissed at me... Maybe should stop doing that......

Def stop doing that. You’re just feeding their addiction and entitlement.

No matter what you do it will never be enough. That’s the way addiction works.

You’re not responsible for people pleasing them.

You have a life. You have plans. You are waaaay too busy. You always have plans. A plan is staring at a wall, looking for four leaf clovers in your yard, artistically buttering your toast.

As a CF person you always have plans. You keep them on a low information diet. They don’t need to know anything about your time. Schedule, income, outgo... anything.

Because all they are doing is looking for a way to use you to get high or pay for their lives or work for them for free and of course worship them.

Once you realize that EVERY Mombie and daddict works the same way, you realize that it has nothing to do with you personally. You’re just being used like they use anyone. That removes the personal from the equation and you can just move on.

“You never like my pictures....”

“Wow. People are dying in a global pandemic and you’re begging for clicks? Get over yourself. Don’t ever contact me about such complete nonsense again.”

Shit I should definitely stop it... you are right... I’m absolutely busy and enjoying my life to the max. Sure I’m autistic and not so great with people and all that and I do have my struggles but I’m doing research that I’m genuinely passionate about and I’m also running a fucking tech company with people I work well with for god sake. Why would I feel bad and click likes on people’s fucking naked baby pics just so that they don’t put shame on me... it’s just so ridiculous... fuck them! Thanks buddy i surely needed this!!

And this is where that self respect comes in. When in doubt, reread your own words.

Stay the course.

“fuck am I the only one thinking this way? Am I insane!?”

Short answer: NO and NO.

Long answer: whenever you get down, remember that you're living your life the way YOU want, not how the rest of the planet thinks you should. Is it a pain in the ass? Sure--but the reward is self respect. You can't put a price tag on that.

And if you feel that you're going nuts, remember that there are nearly 900,000 people on this sub alone--of all ages, both genders, and a variety of orientations. I daresay that's a lot of insanity going around. :)

Thanks that helps!!

What is the dark force that suppresses the value of self-respect and freedom? Is it the occasional fear of the unknown? Is it the shame of being divergent? And then the shame of feeling all above? I don’t want to feel any of these. It’s not easy to stay positive at all times but thanks a lot bud. What you said does make me feel less lonely.

You are powerful.... You go out of your way to encourage a stranger. You are very kind and powerful and you wanna help others with that superpower. I really appreciate that.

Yes you are right. They are absolutely toxic... I can’t relate to any of those and why do people want to share their private life that way...

The way you feel is perfectly fine.

I'm not on social media (save this) and I live in a childfree bubble in a secluded part of town on a dead end street with my equally childfree, introverted partner.

Yes, I feel somewhat detached from society as well and I absolutely love it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with admitting this.

That sounds awesome... come to think about it.. even if I somehow fit into this society, I probably would run away immediately without looking back.. nope.. not for me... no regrets....

I personally wouldn't say that I'm running away from anything. Both my partner and I have a strong social circle (of mostly all CF people) and we both do well in the professional world.

I'd instead say that we just are largely dispassionate about most of the goings on of society at large. We pay our taxes and donate to good causes, but we mostly keep to ourselves in our bubble.

2
bohbonebob1OP•

No I’m not saying you are running away. Your life sounds comfortable and awesome! I’m just talking about myself. I feel like I’m running away from society from time to time cuz I can’t handle the large variety of demands, information and value systems.

We all fall short of someone's expectations somewhere. Don't take it to heart and don't let people peer pressure you into living a life you don't want to live.

I guess what I'm wondering is if you've tried letting go of that and simply not caring? Cause no harm, be a decent person, but just ignore societal expectations.

If that means you'll strain relations with some people, that sadly may just be the price you pay, but if they're pressuring you to be someone you're not, do you really care?

Be grateful that you don’t fit in with most of the programmed breeders. They all have scrambled egg brain or “baby brain”. It happens after they give birth- maybe several times. They become immune to the screaming and constant demands and spend the rest of their time trying to convince everyone they know to “get pregnant” as well so that they may do the same... Consider yourself a forward thinker that is quite brilliant because you see right through the charade that billions of people do not have the common sense to discover until perhaps it’s too late. Be content with your choice because you are one of the lucky ones. You CANNOT give a child back or change your mind if the pressure is too overwhelming and that is a very harsh reality for many. You did it! You figured it out ahead of time! Bravo!

Being a breeder sounds terrifying... always thought it was like a cult but it’s actually a zombie brain virus cuz you can at least leave a cult...
