Can I cross the state boarder tomorrow from South Carolina

discussion

My boyfriend recently moved out side of Charlotte and I live about 2 hours away in South Carolina. He recently had hernia surgery and is a little nervous about being alone and not able to lift more then 10 pounds for awhile and not walking amazingly. I know there is a stay at home order there, but that doesn’t mean I can’t drive in right?

You can come in to care for someone who needs care.

You can travel if somebody needs medical attention. There are no blockades at the state border.

As far as current order for NC are. Exemption is for support family members in need.

If you are asking if there is border control or some sort of barrier to leave North Carolina, you can be rest assured their is not any.

Are they pulling people over in towns asking where they are going? Especially around Charlotte

You can but what if you have the virus and you’re asymptomatic or stop at a gas station and become sick days later? He’s just had surgery and him getting sick could be really bad.

This isn’t the point of social distancing. Closed social circles are the point. We’re going to be on lockdowns until maybe 2021. It’s totally appropriate to come in to care for him if they stay at home once she’s here. If she didn’t come, and he overextended himself then he’d be back in a hospital. Much bigger risk.

Honestly picking up corona at a gas station and then infecting her bf, if she takes precautions (hand washing, etc) seems highly unlikely and negligible compared to the existing risk to her bf’s physical health. As long as her bf’s ok with it I don’t see a problem. Risk is never 0 in life.
