This sub is getting a lil bit annoying because of the newbies.

Okay, read the whole thing before jumping onto conclusions. The new people to this sub don't give a flying f about the rules or the megathread.

Ofcourse there are some good questions and great solutions on the daily basis (and these people are the heart of this sub) but the posts like "Is this site safe?" "Shall i download from here?" "How do i run a game from tpb" "is it illegal" "my isp emailed me" "which vpn" have flooded the sub.

And if u don't trust the sites recommended by this sub, why are you even here? Go spend 60 bucks on the game u want and sleep soundly.

Everything is , i repeat, EVERYTHING IS ANSWERED IN THE MEGATHREAD.

Thanks.

Amen to this brother. I've only recently discovered this subreddit, because i assumed after illegall downloads got nuked, most similar subreddits would follow.

And its incredible to see the amount of posts asking for help because they cant make it work.

99% of all the pirated games i played (over 100) have clear instructions in basically 5 lines on a readme file.

If a game doesnt work, i just reread the instructions and see if i missed something or just download another and try again.

Recently played Doom Eternal, and i tried 2 diferent torrents. One said to update drivers to most recent ones to play. I installed it and after installing most recent drivers, game ran smoothly.

I discovered this sub a few weeks ago and hvdva downloaded a couple games.

Honestly, I've never asked a question or made a post. And I've NEVER had to. LITERALLY EVERYTHING IS IN THE MEGATHREAD.

7
ejcrv•

This exactly. I have played so many downloaded games that I can't even count. Rarely do I have problems. If I do I read through the included files or try another download of the game.

It's by no means rocket science.

3
dangsoggyoatmeal•

I downloaded the same game the other day, but even after updating all my drivers, it still gives me a black screen then closes

2
cantpissoffmods•

Well, i got the codex one. I wouldnt even load at start, then i updated my drivers and it ran perfectly after.

God I hate this. I have only done 3 games so far (2 off FitGirl) and literally a quick search on this sub shows that she is trustworthy, and what her legit website is. I don’t get why it’s so hard to just look it up first

Megathread is one thing... but did people forget there’s this thing called google?

31
whyamialive1•

I mean, I'm a newbie too but I just lurk around the megathread

[deleted]•

Is the reason to why No Man Sky crashes on my laptop on the MegaThread? Huh? HUH? I think not. It's because my GPU sucks.

I agree with your post, bud. Noobs, get out.

14
Mr_Beans_•

I agree, beginners can be frustrating, but we all gotta start somewhere, you know. I'm not defending them for not reading the megathread.

I remember the golden age, where every month my dad had to reinstall windows because my stupid 11 yr old ass was downloading from softonic. Yeah I was dumb... But hey, look at me now, I'm 15 yr old that now knows how to do some shit.

Personally I think them downloading viruses it's like riding on a bicycle for the first time and falling. Then you get up and go again, now with more knowledge. It makes you know what download button to press you know. I don't really think this sorts of things can be thought by someone. Point them to the right website. Sure. But I'll bet my ass they'll get a popup where it's says download this plugin to continue. And they'll do it. They'll press it and boom. Chrome now looks like shit. How do I know this happens. My mom did this without even trying to pirate something.

[deleted]•

Give a person Steam, he shall game whenever he buys. Give this same man TPB, he shall game... forever.

lol

Anyway, I used to download from Softonic. Thing is, before they would just virus your ass, they'd actually give you the damn demo. I've seen the popup thing happen, hell, they've gotten so smart that they have even gotten me haha

But still, that doesn't excuse people from reading the rules. It should be common sense by now that before anyone posts, they should read the rules. At least once. I post on here sometimes asking how to fix a game or whatnot, but never on "where do I download?" I've never used the megathread. I learned to pirate from my dad.

When I was like 12, I'm 24 now, I saw him pirate a movie. It was that 17 again movie with Mathew Perry and Zac Efron for my cousins. I wanted to download Halo but I only had the demo so I got the utorrent files but didn't know how to activate them. He told me to figure it out on my own. That day? That's the day I learned to google.

4
Mr_Beans_•

Softonic, after it infects you, doesn't even give you the full game.

The day I learned to Google? When a cousin came I asked her if she could get me gta vc. She literally just searched gta vc download. That all. Then she pressed the first link and did some shit. After 3 hours of waiting it didn't work. Then I was obsessed searching game name download.

Cool dad you got there. Now I'm doing something like he did to you. Im passing my piracy skills to my lil bro. He always asks me to pirate him a game he sees his fav yt playing. And if my poor gt730(not even the ddr5 type) can handle it, I just guide him. I hope he'll grow up a good pirate. Unfortunately English isn't our first language so it's a little bit harder for him to understand anything now.

Ah fuck why did me thinking about my brother growing up made me shed a tear.

2
[deleted]•

Because you really love the kid. That hits home, dude. When my son asks me how to download a game, I'm going to show him, too. I pirate games and if I extremely like it, I buy it. Only game I've ever bought is Oxygen Not Included.

lol those were the days "download gta vc"

What language do you speak? If it's Spanish, bruh, talk to me.

Elturtleo•

I don’t understand how these people even have the patience to wait for a response. I’ll scour the internet for a solution if I have to. Usually I find answers for anything I need quickly though lol.

10
[deleted]•

Yeah lol. I saw someone asking how to hack their ex boyfriend’s Instagram on r/LearnToHack. They had no idea what they were doing and just wanted revenge on their ex. There is no simple answers to “how to hack [blank]”. Some people’s lack of intelligence surprises me

Edit: keep linking the wrong sub. It’s r/HowToHack

4
Mr_Beans_•

What do they mean by "hack" it's such a vague word ffs.

2
Elturtleo•

Lmao. Probably just watched too many dumb movies. She could’ve maybe brute forced it lol.

1
[deleted]•

I actually just learned today that it’s hard/impossible to brute force social media acc. due to security requirements now. Idk much about brute force attacks so I’m not entirely sure about that though. If you were really dedicated you could just phish or SE to get in

2
Elturtleo•

Fair enough. I never got into that kind of stuff. Makes sense they’d do something security wise about it by now lol.

2
shugo223•

I figured it all out myself I don’t see why people can’t do the same. If these moralfags care if it’s legal or not then why do they even bother trying to look to see if they can get games for free? I personally don’t mind spending money on a game or 2 but I’m also not rich so I’m going to pirate games I want to play but not enough buy. Plus over the years developers have been increasingly careless about the quality of their games and have been shitting on their fans and why would I want to reward this behavior by giving them money?

5
[deleted]•

EXACTLY. Although there's still concern in the back of my head, that SWAT's gonna bust down my door 😂😂😂

3
shugo223•

Nah at the very most you’ll be fined a hefty fee but even that is incredibly unlikely. Like it happened to so few people it’s practically unheard of. And then if you’re using a vpn and everything then could they still find you? Sure anything’s possible. But would they spend their time and resources to try to find you? No they won’t.

1
[deleted]•

I'm using Tor. Lol

1
shugo223•

If you want I can give you a list of NordVPN accounts. A lot of them are outdated because I had the list for a while now but you should find one that works.

Idk why this meme exists, I ran the game at 80-100 fps on 1440p with a 2080 super. It's very graphically heavy yes, but you can run it greatly on all Turing GPUs

Phantom-Inferno•

I don’t have a problem with people wanting help, but half of the posts ask questions that could be found in 5 seconds in a google search. “Can I play this game online?” or “Why is this game crashing on my PC?” It’s always the same answer. “Did you update your drivers?” This should be something that they can easily look up but that’s too hard for them.

Thanks for your input. The mod team frequently removes lots of rule violating posts.

We are always welcome for feedback/ways to improve.

If you have any specific ideas that you would love to share, please do. This could be an ammendment to the Rules (giving us more ground to remove posts).

Personally, I'm sorry that you're having a bad experience on the subreddit. Any ways that we can improve are always ready to be heard.

Edit: I have made a Common Questions and Answers thread which gives us ground to remove questions that can be answered in the thread.

Me myself is a newbie when it comes to Pirating and such, tho i have never asked if any sites are safe or so, i have the common sense not to click a site with a big "DOWNLOAD HERE FOR FREE" button glowing green hehe.

sorry if im bothering with my newbie questions tho fr.

Actually the most annoying part is how modders offer no support for pirated stuff. In fact many of them are condescending self-important twats if anyone asks for help with a pirated copy.
