Best back country camp site?
Hey long weekend coming up and I really want to get out of town for a bit (Will be practicing strict social distancing still don't worry).
I would love to hit a quiet, safe, secluded camp site. So where is your favorite spot?? Any ideas of new places to check out?

Don't go. If any significant number of people do what you're thinking, it could be a huge drain on resources for the province and emergency workers.
What if something happens in the back country and you need medical assistance?
What if you get in a car accident and have to go to a hospital? Do you really want to be in a hospital right now where most of the infected people are?
Think of the resources police and ems will need to use up for people spreading out over thousands of square kilometers.
And it doesn't matter if you think YOU will be safe and not have any issues, because normalizing the behavior will make more people likely to head out as well.
I appreciate you writing this out but will never understand how me going camping in the woods hurts anyone at all.
Cant fix stupid
I think it's stupid to sit inside all weekend trying to not get the flu. Social Distance and go outside, good for your lungs.

You can lead a horse to water, something something something, I need another drink.
Not worth explaining it to someone who's willfully ignorant, but I'm bored. It's not the act of going outside to get fresh air that's the problem, it's the stubbornness of wanting to do an activity that's relatively safe outside of a pandemic, but during a pandemic the risk to the community outweighs the benefit of an individual. It's selfish to take a risk that could divert resources to an otherwise easily avoidable accident, just because you want to get out of your house and cant handle walking around the block.
So go for a walk/run IN THE CITY.
Gonna soak downvotes for this, but I agree. Can’t keep things shut like this forever. We’re 18+ months from a vaccine. Some form of normalization needs to occur.
Alberta has tested 75,000 people, 1,600 came positive. Only 2.8% of people who think they have the illness actually do. Still plenty of hospital capacity in the province.
I mean, I don't know you or your outdoor skill level, but your first instinct was to ask random people on the internet for recommendations, so you don't seem to have firsthand knowledge of Alberta's back country, or a group of friends that does. This does not inspire confidence.
And like I said, even if YOU have no issues, posting about it online or posting pictures encourages others to go out. One person MIGHT not cause problems, but hundreds or thousands almost certainly will cause some resource drain that would be much better suited to the current crisis than saving entitled people from themselves.
Not to mention that he wants to go somewhere he's never been before, increasing the risks substantially. Frustrating.
Quite experienced and camp most weekends, just looking for new fun spots to check out :)
There are only 42 cases in the hospital, province-wide. Most infected people are actually at home.
Fair point, but it doesn't change the main idea.
Hospitals aren’t busy right now either. They are, in fact, pretty empty.
I never said the hospitals were busy. I said going out to the back country and having problems could be a drain on resources.
What's your point though? We aren't as bad as some of the worst hit countries so we can use up all the slack in our emergency systems before things get bad?
You have to add three weeks to your infection point because Renata when you'll typically need icu. By then there will be 4 doubling events if we maintain current rate. So no thanks to getting infected now.
