Man what a good idea it would be for Trudeau to move some of that new medical equipment work this way...

Covid-19 Coronavirus

Extend an olive branch and gain some political capital moving even just some of that new medical equipment push over here to give the people here some work. Yes, No?

Oh yeah bashing him and not electing a single liberal will encourage sure him to help us. In modern politics you help people that vote or donate to you that's it. But in Alberta nobody helps us because we never change our vote. So even the conservatives fuck us.

Honest question, are there manufacturing outfits that can easily retool out here to make these medical equipment?

Can we weld the masks? What can we weld that will help?

If we had focused more on tech and manufacturing over the past 20 years, that would be an easy thing to do.

Unfortunately oil sands projects don't easily convert over to making masks.

You need factories that have the means to produce the equipment, and the supplies to do it. Getting the supplies is probably the biggest hurdle right now.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. We’d already have to be set-up for manufacturing medical supplies and our current government has made it very clear unless your O&G oriented to move on. (We don’t believe in ‘diversity’ here🙄). The previous NDP government did try to expand the hospitals and evolve our health services but it’s hard to accomplish much in four years. This PC government has made it a personal mandate to undo everything the NDP’s done; even axing a state-of-the- art super-lab that would’ve been provided testing and could’ve been contributing to helping end this pandemic. If funding for hospital projects weren’t delayed or taken away we’d have better health services in place for more patients. Instead most Communities have witnessed their clinics and hospitals close. This province has to have the basics down first before it can provide help for others. They haven’t even addressed their physicians concerns and the majority of women in this province have lost a lot of their rights... probably don’t even know it. I got to find out the hard way in January. So I really don’t like this government. I hope Karma gets them good.

do we have any facilities that can do it? I am not well informed about what facility plans are right now, or how it is being decided where the production will be. Anyone have insight?

But, Alberta makes oil

Alberta has an indelible, congenital hatred for JT and anything it gets will just be window dressing. Plus AB has the most adversarial anti-Liberal provincial government in the country under the leadership to JK. AB should not expect much, maybe thoughts and prayers.

unfortunately, we forget that a politician's #1 job is getting themselves re-elected. im not sure the OP's (great!) idea aligns with that, however.
