[TOMT] An older(?) song that literally goes "on and ooooooooon"....
EDIT- SOLVED, you can stop responding.
There's a song that occasionally comes on at my work which irritates the life out me, but I need to know what it's called. It sounds like it should be from the 90s, has quite a poppy/dance vibe to it but I can't make out many of the lyrics at all. All I hear is, I think, "on and ooooooooon, what's the point..." and will repeat that for a bit.
It's a male singer, and seems to last for a good bit over five minutes. Any time I try to Google the lyrics to find it, Stephen Bishop is a popular result. It's not that.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
EDIT- here's a clip of me butchering it. https://vocaroo.com/5FCsxzAetaO
It's what I think the words are, but obviously the mumbled bit I can't make out. That's just how it goes.

It's not Oh L'Amour by Erasure, is it? The lyrics don't line up, but something about the vocaroo melody reminded me of it.
My hero! This is it, can’t believe it.
Made a meal of the lyrics clearly, but it’s only played over a shitty tannoy system.
Thanks so much.
Happy I could help! I work at a department store, so I heard this song 5 times a day for 9 whole months last year. It feels good knowing my suffering was not in vain.
I'm at a warehouse and it plays very infrequently, but enough for more than me to be annoyed by it.
Download the app Shazam!! You can use it to find the name and artist of the song
Could you please reply "solved" to the person that solved it? Also I'm sorry you have to hear that multiple times per day/week or whatever that has to be really annoying. I'd never heard it and was curious only made it about halfway through and I was a teenager in the 80's when this would have been popular and couldn't bear it haha.
Erasure had some damn great tunes!
Seriously underrated band if the 80s.
They still make music! I go to their concerts every couple years!
Yeah I had a feeling it was one of those kind of groups, I got quite optimistic with the Pet Shop Boys suggestion previously.
ALLLLWAYYS I want to BEEEEE with youuuuu
Agreed. I love this song.
Whaaaaaat? I haven't heard this song in like 20 years
Have a little listening party! Still fab
Would also live a living hell if that song came so frequently in my workplace, why even THAT song, when "A Little Respect" from the same band is so much better? Just listened to the answer and got bored almost instantly
I suppose there are worse songs to be subjected to, but our playlist is so small that it becomes relentless.
I had never heard a Taylor Swift song before I started working here. I've heard all of them at this point. I'm actually a big fan now. It's a coping mechanism.
Actually, as soon as I heard your recording I knew exactly what it was. But I was in junior high when that song came out.
Then I found someone had figured it out already.
Thanks OP. I haven't heard this song in ages. It was nice to hear it again. Also your Vocaroo was hysterical to listen to 😁

This is not 90s. That’s 80s New Wave Crap. Lol. Ugh what kinda of radio station are you listening to that this comes on??? Lol
Solved!
Dude, your singing was dope!! Had a great laugh!
Weird no one has been able to get it before when I’ve been singing “on and on”...
Your tune was spot on though.
Sorry that I asked you to reply solved in a comment above I see now that you've already done it I guess the bot is taking the night off.
Congratulations, you have been given 1 point for solving this post!
Good bot.
Pretty catchy.
Damn I didn’t see this reply was posted !! Immediately what came to mind lmao hilarious
Wow! Good ears!
Oh no, I just got flashbacks to when I worked 6am Sunday shifts at the local grocery store. It'd be dark outside, overly bright inside and completely desolate except overnight stock workers who didn't leave yet, and then me at the register most likely running on three hours of sleep - and then the speakers blasting...
OHH L'AMOOOOUUUR
You know what's sad? I'm on week 4 of quarantine, and I was just thinking the other day about how empty my life feels without a constant stream of 25+ year old pop songs.
Yep, same here. Except now I'm a teacher's aide and I miss the kiddos :(
But I'll always have a weird nostalgia for those stupid Sunday morning shifts and the bad pop songs. Brings me right back.
