Stopped reading with the first paragraph.

The lab is in the same city where the coronavirus outbreak first came to the world's attention.

200 meters from the wet market that was falsely claimed origin in that 'bat soup' story.

Okay, I've got a question, because I'm from Poland. Were Western mass media helping the Soviets to cover up Chernobyl like that, too?

No. I was only 7 but from what my sister, mom and dad say no democrats or liberals were blaming Reagan and trying to excuse the USSR.

All the newspapers both left and right were very skeptical of the official Soviet story and numbers

Really depends on just how far left the news media was. Here in Canada, there were some now defunct publications that had strong commie sympathies that were pushing the USSR viewpoint. They didn't change their tune until the atmospheric rad numbers started being published. The politicos and whatnot weren't buying the USSR line though.

Knowing the BBC, they know about Dr Zhengli and they're just trying to avoid having to print the headline - "The virus that killed 140k people and destroyed society was a woman's doing."

I’m sure they’ll appreciate that. They seem to love bats, after all.
