You're right, for the deck they are pretty interchangeable.
play the undying spell and you will understand
I haven't thought of that, seems like a really slow play tbh. I guess it could be a conditional finisher in some cases though

Guess it's more how your playing.
If your just all in, focused on Fiora, bannerman does not make sense. If your completemting Fiora with troops, bannerman makes more sense. He gets more value to the more units you have on the board.
Course, Badgerbear and Ranger still probably takes their slots anyway, so, meh
In closed beta, her stat of 3|3 was also rather impressive for a 3 drop.
She's an alternate win condition, which demands its own level of respect in a game.
