Need some feedback on a build. $3k budget, gaming PC.

###Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)

Yes

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

Primarily gaming with some media viewing. FPS games like Modern Warfare.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)

1440p at a minimum (for gaming) with the ability to go up to 4k (media viewing like movies). 144hz @1440p and 4k @60hz. Up to ultra @1440p but framerate is more important than graphics quality.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

$3k but would prefer not to hit that mark if possible.

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

United States

Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

Provide any additional details you wish below.

My buddy asked me for some feedback on a build he drafted up. I am not super familiar with AMD builds (I've only built one in the past and that was 7 years ago) so any feedback would be appreciated.

The build looks ok IMO, although the PSU seems like overkill and I'm not fully on board with 2 2TB Intel 660p SSD. Seems like a bit much on flash storage and I feel like a 4 TB WD Blue HDD would be a better storage device price per GB vs a 2TB SSD.

Thank you in advance for any and all feedback.

PSU is absolutely overkill. You would be fine with a 750W gold.

You don't really need 32GB of RAM either.

Storage is up to you how fast you want it to be. Personally I wouldn't buy 4TB of SSD storage but you know your needs better.

Yeah I was figuring 750 would be enough with maybe some wiggle room if he wanted to look into overclocking.

As to the 32 GB, he wants to try and future proof the build as much as possible, so he figured 32 would be a good mark to hit. I'll bring it up to go with a 2x8 set and if he needs bump it up to 4x8.

Thanks for the feedback!

Future proofing is kind of a myth, but always better to have more RAM that you need than less. Your budget already includes a top tier GPU though so I guess go for it, since you don't need to reallocate funds elsewhere.

4tb of m.2 is seems needlessly expensive.

Id get a 1 or 2tb m.2 and a 3 or 4tb HDD for much less.

That board is weak as fuck for a $3k budget.

Also solid call on 32GB RAM you won't be sorry despite what the haters say.

The build is good but I played around with it and got a 2080ti to fit in there with this

I pretty much dialed down the PSU and storage and upped the mobo and gpu.
