Finally got around to taking pictures of my leg piece

Completed over the course of 5 sessions over ~20-25 hours from September 2009 to November 2010 by Yutaro Sakai at The Skull and Sword in San Francisco. Source material (the ghost thing) is a mural I saw in a bar in Taiwan, I contacted the original artist and asked for pictures which he gladly provided. The animals are my dad (pig), my mom (rabbit), and my (pig) Chinese zodiac symbols. Cheers and thanks for looking! edit: errr, I thought I had made a post containing the album, but alas it did not, so here you go: http://imgur.com/a/KAl1e#7DpWV

pretty friggin sweet! i was thinking about getting my shin done but ive always wondered what the pain would be like. how would you rate it?

shin doesn't feel terrible at all. least painful spot on the leg.

i thought the shin itself a was kinda bad, but the worst for me was probably the tendons around my ankle on the side and the tendon on the back of my knee.
edit: spelled shin shit

back of the calf for me... shin was kinda fun, just felt a lot of vibrations up and down my leg. the meaty fat part on the back of my leg though?

i refuse to get the other leg done for that reason. most painful spot on my body, bar none

i felt the same way, that my leg was the most painful part to have tattooed (i've had shoulder, spine, chest, and shoulder blade done), but to be honest i've just noticed that tattoos have been hurting more for me as i get older, so i'm not really sure if the leg is just an inherently painful spot or it's just because it's my most recent work... but yeah, for some reason the back of the leg is freaking brutal, notice how much black is in this one lol...

id have to agree with the back of the knee. ive got most of my left calf tattooed and the worst by far was behind the knee

That's a really cool mix of styles.

I fucking love this. Great use of negative space and contrasting styles.

All the work coming out of Skull and Sword is amazing, I live a block away and really want to get some work done there... damn waiting lists.

it's worth it dude. i saw a couple of pieces by grime in person at the shop, i have to say that it remains the only time i've seen tattoos that actually look better in person than in photographs - his 3 year waiting list is well deserved. and once you've gotten past the waiting list, their rates are pretty reasonable
