Don’t Believe Your Watch!

Activity

For my April Activity challenge I had to walk/run a certain amount of miles. Every day when i checked my progress in the Awards section of the Activity app the watch showed how many miles i would need to average in a day to meet the goal. At one point i did the math and realized if i followed that i would come up way short. For my May Challenge the goal is 2,640 exercise minutes and again I just did the math on the average it’s suggesting. Not going to follow it because if i did i’d be about 90 minutes short.

The watch is a hard task master and is not your friend!

This was so confusing, I still don’t know what he’s talking about after two reads.

Watch told him to exercise X minutes a day to complete the monthly challenge.

If he were to do that, he'd be 90 mins short.

hmmm. I edited my post a bit. do you get it now? Do you use the Activity app on the Apple Watch? I realize some people do not.

It actually does the math, but it assumes you have a full day “today” and calculates from that. It can be 11:59 pm and it counts as a full day

i ran a number of scenarios. watch still came up short.

I think you have a hiccup in the awards. If Apple wants to do that at 30 minutes a day, you’d need 88 days in this month. I would try restarting your phone and watch. The only way I can think that it would give you this, if you are someone that turns on there workout activity for every little thing you do so it can’t average correctly... other theN That I think it’s just a bug.

maybe you’ve never seen the Activity Monthly Challenges. The app originally recommended i average something like 86 minutes of exercise a day to meet the 2640 minutes May challenge. That average suggestion adjusted every day according to how much i did exercise (generally 60-90 minutes) but after a week or so i checked the math of the recommendation and found if i followed it i’d be about 90 minutes short come the end of the day 5/31. i noticed a similar gap with the April challenge of 232 miles. if i had followed the recommendation i would not have reached the goal.
