Othographic camera displays geometry in grey

Help

Hello!

I have already seen some posts in forums/reddit talking about this problem (from years ago), but I didn't find any useful answers (usually people just tell to not use orthographic).

Here is what the problem looks like:

As you can see, in the editor view the planes have different colors (the materials are extremely simple, it's just a base color with max roughness). There is also a rock that is a megascan asset that I imported to see if it was doing the same thing in the orthographic view.

And indeed, everything renders in a uniform grey color and I was wondering... why? The project itself is the simplest you could imagine, as it is created in a blank new project, with the default lighting, materials are just base colors, and the meshes are just standard planes.

Some people suggested to use a camera with low FOV and big distance instead of using orthographic setting, but then objects are really far from the camera and things like shadows are no longer calculated/drawn.

My game project really need to be displayed as orthographic, and I don't want to make it 2D (I really want the 3D visuals with the functionnality of isometric 2D).

If anyone encountered this problem or managed to solve/bypass it, please share your ideas! :)

Thanks, and sorry if this is a very stupid mistake on my end ^^'

This appears to be a UE4 issue with the preview window of orthographic cameras. I'm not sure if there's an easy fix for that. :/
