So I just watched Anger and Light for the FIRST time. (Ant arc spoilers. You have been warned.)
I don't have access to a lot of material for Hunter x Hunter minus Netflix. So I saw the first two arcs. Hunter Exam and York New. Then Hulu came out with the Greed Island arc and that was great.
I accidentally found a site called tubi. For a few commercials, it's a free stream site. Had the entire Ant arc. What luck. (NOT A PLUG JUST EXCITED COINCIDENCE)
So I start watching. Meet Kite and get excited. Then have my heart ripped out. Awesome start.
So I keep plowing through. Get a bit farther in and really start to dig the way thing are progressing.
Netero is getting screen time and I'm digging his attitude. Knuckles is a bit outrageous, but I can see the appeal. Perfect matching for Gon. Netero is a genius here imo.
Glad biscuit is back. Great buffer and knows just how hard to push the boys.
Start to see the hidden strengths of the Royal Guard. Freaking insane group. Love the depths of fear they create. Makes for a devastating fight to have to train for.
Seeing the King start to expand his mind is great. Having maturity start to take effect and over ride his primal instincts. Put reasoning into his actions instead of mindless conquering.
All this to add on anxiety and tension riding into the 1v1 of The King and Netero. Which is amazing and f...ing tragic. The mini rose...... omfg. Just kill me. Amazing. Horrific. Selfless. Fruitless. Just so hard to watch and so amazing too.
And then we slid into Anger and Light. GON! Dumb ass. DUMB ASS! Okay. I'm done. (DUMB ASS) WTF. Dude. Like wtf. Why just stand there. Why lose the arm. Why sacrifice it for no reason. You've lost so much already, all that time. All that experience. You may be strong, but you're dumb as a pile of shit. You've given up on so much time. So much training. You might as well be GOHAN!
That's right, I said it.
However, it's pretty damn true. While natural instincts will help, and the fact that you're battle ready now, it's no different than taking time off for school, graduating, then work for a bit. After all that, then you Rocky Balboa your ass into shape really quickly for the impending fight. You forgot your ultimate attack. So you throw one together. All the other aspects of it immature, and have no development or growth from use in battle and in different types of fights.
You're basically a barbarian.
The art was stupendous, and magnificent, and mesmerizing. Loved the whole thing. Loved seeing Pitous face shattered to pulp. I hate seeing death, but some characters are created to hate to death. Even then, I'm not always on bored. Pitou that was a just action.
I have flash and start loaded and am ready to see what happens next. So this was an actual reaction post. Purely from the heart. Sorry for ramblings, and language if that's an issue here. Please pm me if intending to take down. Also sorry for any open ended thought and rabbit trails. I had a lot to say and not a lot of time to do it.
Hope you enjoyed.

I’m pretty sure gon let his arm get cut off to be more like kite. I’m almost positive I heard that somewhere.
He says it as it happens
Oh lol I forgot
Agreed, but I think Kite would still think him a dumb ass for making such a pointless gesture. Losing a limb in sympathy isn't living to your potential which is what I think Kite would rather have Gon do instead of living as he would be without his arm.
Again, this is just my opinion on how I'd view Kite's support for Gon had he had the ability to add input into Gon's decision. I'm more than aware of Gon's stubbornness. Killua has had great effect, as had others in breaking through to him.
I know what he said about his arm, and being like Kite, but it's a bs reason for me. Even our hero's can make dumb ass choices.
