The origin of Jesus's Y chromosome (half? All?)

I'd be willing to accept that maybe half of it came from his mother Mary but what about his Y chromosome. Is there any canon explanation for this in eschatological studies. I understand that it was a miracle, I want to know if there are canonical explanations for how how the miracles were made manifest.

I just assumed God added it. Seems the most logical

Yeah but with what DNA? Did he craft the genome himself? Since God is divine wouldn't that genome be "perfect"? He made Adam "perfect" too right?

Concerning Jesus' DNA, you can read this post from five months ago, and this post from a year ago to see what people said then.

I asked the one from a year ago and got nonanswers. I've been digging since then.

Oh, ha ha! Well, perhaps this time will yield some responses you didn't get before.

Also, I wonder why you wrote 'eschatogical' in your text above?
How would Jesus' DNA relate at all to eschatology?

Because of Christ's origins. I've consistently been running into explanations that Jesus, while human, is also divine and other worldly and that Jesus was the second or new Adam. Was this his second coming?

I believe God spawned all matter and energy in the universe. It’s not exactly a stretch to believe he could spawn a male zygote or a sperm cell inside a young Jewish woman.

My best critique of various sources would suggest that Mary was a surrogate but Jesus and Adam were for all intents and purposes identical.

Jesus was fully human and yet fully divine. Does this require immaculate conception? Or are even those standards insufficient to proclaim divinity.

There’s nothing that suggests Jesus and Adam were genetically identical.

Also Jesus being fully human and fully divine does not require immaculate conception (which has to do with Mary). All Christians believe Jesus is fully human and fully divine, but basically only Roman Catholics believe in the immaculate conception of Mary.

Ehhh wrong Jesus's divinity is reliant on Mary being an untainted vessel.

unless he shares nothing of Mary and is Adam reborn

Don’t try and tell other people what they believe or what their religion teaches. You are wrong.

Jesus was divine for eternity past. His humanity is dependent on coming from Mary, his divinity is not.

Ive been speaking with a sect of jesuits out of Eritrea and they have very different opinions on this matter.

Jesus never lost his divine form because he never sinned, Adam sinned and lost his divine form. Losing his divine form made him subject to death, spiritually.

Adam never had a divine form, he was created a perfect human being, which was then marred when he sinned, but he was never divine.

God made Adam out of dust, so creating Jesus' Y chromosome out of nothing would be easy for God.

What constitutes a "perfect human being?"

1
Iceman_001Christian•

One that hasn't been touched by sin.

4
RimmOP•

Yes. I don't know in what way this is relevant.

Are you saying that you believe that Jesus is a genetic "clone" of Adam.

1
John__-_Christian•

Yes, Jesus was the divine perfect form before Adam sinned.

Our sin nature is said to be is carried on through Adam to all men, key word being men. That is why Jesus could not be conceived of Mary and a man. I don't know that we will have the answer about exactly how until we see God face to face but Jesus's Y chromosome was free of a sin nature. That is how he was able to live without sinning and be a perfect sacrifice. But his DNA is half Mary so he cannot be a clone of Adam. The Bible is clear that our sin nature came through the world through one man, not through Mary. That does not mean that Mary did not also sin herself, but that the way that sin nature is passed on is through Adam's seed.

Thank you for the best explanation I've seen yet

Thanks! I've given it a great deal of thought--it is my biggest curiosity in life--and I can't wait to find out when all things are made clear.

So assuming the Y half of Jesus is not the same as David's, Do you suspect that it is wholly unique? Was David's flawed in a way Jesus's was not? (Why would God have created David with that flaw?

2
VioletAnne48•

I do think that Jesus's DNA is unique. I don't believe that God "created" David with a "flaw" . David was born of a man and a woman so he had a sin nature. It was only because of Joseph's faith that Joseph did not put aside Mary for unfaithfulness (if she was pregnant while they were betrothed and it wasn't him that would be the natural conclusion) and she needed to marry Joseph for Jesus to have the proper lineage, which was critical to the Jewish people who were waiting for the Messiah.
