ER ran tests but couldn't find anything, but I'm gasping for air every other breath. I have no idea what's wrong

I just got back from the ER. I am a 21 year old male, no medication, but I do smoke. They x-rayed my lungs, tested my blood, urine, the w!hole treatment. They tried telling me it's just anxiety but that very clearly isn't the case. It feels like I'm breathing out of a straw and it's only been getting worse over the past week. I'm scared if it gets any worse I won't even be able to stay conscious without support, but I have no idea what else could be wrong. I'm trying to set up an appointment with my gp but I don't know what I could even tell them. I just want to breathe again.

I’m going through the same thing and I went to the ER and everything was fine as well ... I’m pretty sure I have panic disorder and it’s been like this everyday.

What was your oxygen saturation? Get an oximeter. Should be available at drugstore.

I have the same issue and have been told it is air hunger. Which means you are actually getting to much air and it causes us to feel like we need to take deep breaths or yawn to get a good deep breath. It is anxiety related if all other tests come back normal ( it is also seen in those with thyroid disorders and anemics but if they did a blood test that was normal then anxiety would be my next guess)
