Aussie foods that help you lose the most weight

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to ask people who log their foods if they've noticed a particular food or drink that helps keep them on track or helps them lose weight.

After 9 months of logging my foods, drinks and measurements with Carb Manager, I went back through the dates where I lost the most amount of weight over months and months and saw I'd been drinking Santa Vittoria sparkling water every single day. On the weeks I didn't lose as much, no Santa Vittoria water.

I just thought I'd put this out to anyone that may want to try it.

Are there any foods or drinks trends where you've noticed you've lost the most amount of weight?

Fasting seemed to be the trend for me...

Did you drink other water to the same volume as the Santa Vittoria water in the 'bad' weeks?

Yes, I drank regular water from free water chillers where I was studying. I just refilled my water bottle from home.

I honestly don't know why it was a trend, but as I looked back through My Carb Manager "measurements" tab, there's a list of dates and weights where I've entered them. When I've noticed a trend of the biggest jumps, I go back and review the food I was eating during a weekly period.

Then I bought Santa Vittoria water again and yep, lost more weight that week. Perhaps it's just me, but it does keep me fuller. Perhaps cause it's fizzy, I don't feel like snacking...really don't know though.

That's not surprising really, if you enjoy it it could almost feel like you're getting to cheat! Like my mum drinks soda water to replace urges for soft drink. So, if it perhaps helped curb anything else while giving you something you enjoyed more while suppressing appetite as water does, sounds like a winner! Could lead to feeling more relaxed and content leading to better sleep!

We simple creatures can get happiness in little things after all ha

I even noticed it helped with electrolytes and it has some (as written on the bottle) but not enough to just use it without using lite salt and magnesium. But it helped.

I did enjoy it--still do.

Exercising more helps you lose the weight, eating right simply makes the first part more efficient.

Down 28kg in 7 months. No exercise. Exercise is not part of the equation (not suggesting it doesn’t have other health benefits but its not a major component of weight loss)

I had an injury so I basically couldn't exercise. The more rest I got, the quicker I healed, otherwise I would relapse.

Exercise has many benefits to your body, mind and spirit. But it seems in regard to weight loss you have to ascertain whether it suits you at your current moment. And its use is to create a deficit in regard to weight loss. A lot of people, if they don't calorie count, overestimate how much they've burned during exercise.

Exercise does work in weight loss, but it's highly dependent on where you're at in regards to mobility.

That's why my question was about food or drinks that people have consumed and they've noticed a trend of weight loss from their food logs.

that's very interesting! And good correlation!

I've had other correlations on what makes me feel better or not and am currently doing a CGM test but haven't had (unfortunately!) any correlations with weight / fat loss (yet). I've been keto since Oct 2018 and i think I'm just a super super super slow loser.

What's a CGM test?

But it could be cause I'm drinking more water, however I still drank water a lot on other weeks. When I had the Santa Vittoria every day, I'd lose about 800g that week.

Sorry - a Continuous Glucose Monitor. It's what diabetics use often so they don't need to use a finger prick test to check their blood sugars. I could get one "direct" without a prescription so am using it to test my reaction to certain carbohydrate foods. (interestingly oranges whilst they affect my blood sugar it's not that big an effect)
