"SAVE BACKUP RAM" randomly stopped working on Genesis

I've been playing through Shining Force and saving in the game, in addition to turning Auto Saves on in core menu, and also manually clicking "Save Backup RAM" after every save. This was working fine but today I switched it on to find I had lost 2 hours of progress. Last save is from 2 days ago. I saved multiple times last night and Auto Save was definitely on, so it's demoralising to say the least.

Has anyone else had problems with this?

I worry about this all the time... if it worked before why did it stop working now?

I'm so paranoid now that I now check the saves folder on the SD card every time I'm finishing a session.

I've never been able to get it to work with NBA JAM

You need to bring up the MiSTer menu for the save to be written to disk. Just get in the habit of opening the menu and reboot it or something after playing so you don't lose saves in the future.

Dude, he literally said he manually backed up SRAM after every save

And after playing for two hours, it's easy to forget the one time to bring up the OSD menu. I've yet to hear of a bug where selecting save backup RAM didn't do its job. It's always come down to someone accidentally not bringing up the menu to save.
