Build ideas because why not?

Discussion

Here is a rundown of the builds I have on my two characters, simply because I felt like it. Maybe they'll give you some ideas with how you want to play. I welcome recommendations on changes. I'm also not that much of a stats guy outside of Crit so feel free to finetune to your heart's content. Without further ado:

Ongoing Directive:

I run Carnage and Pesti with Golan Chest with Trauma, Petrov Backpack with Wicked, and the rest OD. Skills are Mortar Turret (Demolitionist Spec) to proc Bleed more and Fixer Drone for heals. Three reds, three blues, a few Status Effect rolls and the rest red rolls. Good for close to mid range fights.

Designated Marksman:

Classic M1A with Breadbasket and Nemesis. Sharpshooter 93R (there's definitely better options from my experience). Punch Drunk, Airaldi Backpack with Versatile, Chainkiller, Overlord Gloves, Airaldi Holste, Providence Kneepads. Kneepads should probably be Fox's Prayer but I like to be different, and it's got great rolls already. All reds with HS Damage on all pieces with a few blues/yellows sprinkled (haven't found replacements yet). Fixer Drone and Revive Hive. Obviously using Sharpshooter Spec. Great for mid to long range and it's not that hard to take advantage of Versatile and Chainkiller if you position yourself well.

Medic:

Designated Hitter and SIG 716 with Reformation. Alps Chest and Backpack, Backpack has Calculated, Overlord Chest with Empathic Resolve, BTSU Gloves, R&K Holster, Hana-U Kneepads. All have Repair Skills and Skill Haste. One red roll with Technician Spec still gives you 6 Skill Tiers. Repair Hive and Chem Launcher for healing. Make sure with BTSU Gloves that you're canceling the Hive when it gets low to proc Transference Overclock. Stick close to teammates to give them heals and hit those headshots to proc Reformation. I use the Backup Boomstick with Optimist, works in a pinch. Positioning is all about being close to teammates.

Shredder:

Standard Adrenaline Rush/Intimidate build, with my own tweaks. I use Ninjabike pads as well because I play aggressive with this build and Ninjabike gives me boosts for doing so. Fenris Mask, Matador Backpack, Providence Chest, Ceska Gloves, Providence Holster, Ninjabike pads. Gunner spec with a Close and Personal Police M4 and Killer Infantry MG5 works amazing. I highly recommend Close and Personal because you get a range finder, helping you know if you need to close the distance. All Crit rolls with 49.7% Crit Chance and 59.2% Crit Chance on the MG5 and over 150% Crit Damage on both.

My pistol necessitates its own little space. Military M9 with Finisher. Finisher, in my opinion, is the ABSOLUTE BEST pistol talent when you're not using a shield. Get a kill then swap back to a primary for 30% extra Crit Chance AND Damage. Godly talent.

Fixer Drone and Revive Hive. Feel free to use Coyote's Mask to get extra Crit Damage in close encounters. Best for close range and if you have a healer in your group.

Anti-BTSU:

The Darkness and an AK-M with Eyeless. EMP Pulse and Blinder Firefly. 3pc China Light, 2pc Wyvern, 1pc Hana-U. Braced (great for console, idk about PC) and Creeping Death. Status Effect and Skill Haste rolls. Survivalist is great for this build because extra group damage to affected enemies (almost always) and the Crossbow's effectiveness against the big guys. Simple job for this build: use the EMP and Blinder the whole time, use your guns when they're on cooldown. Position yourself at medium ranges.

Negotiator:

Steady Handed M60, basically a high damage Bullet King. Strained P416 cuz you can't go wrong with that. Fenris Mask, Contractor Gloves, the rest ND. Doesn't have as high crit rolls as my Shredder build, but with ND you can damage up to 5 enemies at once with this build. Skills are your choice, but a healer skill would prob be useful. Gunner spec for extra damage output.

Shotgunner:

Sadist ACS-12 and Preservation Custom M870. This is a decent hybrid build. 1pc Ceska, Matador, 1pc Providence with Spotter, 2pc Wyvern, 1pc Badger. I mixed around my rolls so it sits at 3 reds, 1 blue, 3 yellow (Technician Spec for one more Skill Tier). Oxidizer Chem and Stinger Hive. Use the Technician laser sight to always get Spotter damage. Minor rolls are a jumble: some Crit, some Skill Damage and Status Effect, some blues. I ran this build on Invaded Heroic Lincoln Memorial and had a lot of fun. It's a fun build but definitely not the best. Use the ACS-12 to deal damage and the M870 to get heals. Again, a fun build.

Wildfire:

Pyromaniac and Boomstick. 3pc China Light, 2pc Wyvern, Imperial Dynasty. Creeping Death and Spark. Flamethrower Turret and Firestarter Chem. Status Effects and Skill Haste rolls, 6 yellows. Firewall spec for Burn effects. Pretty simple build.

King Cobra:

Diamondback and M16A2 with Strained. I know the M16 is probably no one's favorite, but mine has great rolls, and I can have Strained going for a while thanks to the burst fire. 3pc Overlord, Matador, 1pc Grupo, 1pc Providence with Spotter. 6 reds with Crit and Weapon Handling rolls. I use Sharpshooter and Tactician Drone (which apparently doesn't proc Spotter but can still be useful) and Scanner Pulse. Medium range build, Matador is just for when enemies get close and for damage rolls.

Onslaught:

Ranger Mk 16 and New Reliable. 1 pc Fenris, 1pc Gila with Braced, the rest Striker. Weapon Handling is basically a must with Striker to get the stacks consistently. Gunner spec for damage, Fixer Drone and Revive Hive for survivability. Just stick to cover and you'll do great.

Aces:

Preservation Classic M1A and Mantis. Punch Drunk, 4pc Aces & Eights, Sawyer's Kneepads. Decoy and Fixer Drone. 5 reds, 1 blue, headshot rolls. Stay in one place, keep enemies distracted with the decoy, and turn heads into pink mist from a distance.

Turret/Drone:

Harmony and Mechanical Animal. This one is gonna be different from what most people use: 2pc Hana-U, 3pc Wyvern, 1pc 5.11. 6 yellows (Technician), 1 blue on the 5.11. Braced and Perfect Combined Arms. I like to use the Sniper Turret with the Striker Drone. Skill Damage and Skill Haste rolls. Harmony 95% of the time, the other 5% is Mechanical Animal to get occasional Overcharge.

Foam Swapper:

The Grudge and Classic FAL with Vindictive. 3pc Wyvern, 1pc Fenris with Gunslinger, 1pc Murakami with Galvanize, Firm Handshake Gloves. Foam Chem and Mender Seeker. Just keep switching weapons and using the foam on enemies.

True Patriot:

Pestilence/Chameleon and Mechanical Animal. Fenris Holster with blue rolls. Ceska gloves with red rolls. The rest TP with Amor and red rolls. Skills your choice, Gunner spec. Not a showstopper, but it works.

Hard Wired:

Surge and Breadbasket PP-19. 4pc HW, Percussive Maintenance, 1pc Wyvern Wear. Demolitionist with Skill Damage and Skill Haste. Chuck Cluster Seeker out then, when it's on cooldown, deploy Mortar Turret, and chuck more clusters. In the past, I'd use this build with a Bombardier instead of the Mortar, but Bombardier can be inconsistent.

Vile:

Mechanical Animal and Pesti. Vile Mask, 4pc Eclipse Protocol, 1pc Golan with all blues. Firestarter Chem and Burn Sticky. Prob my best Status Effect build, slightly beating out my OD. Firewall spec for more fire.

Armor and Damage:

Optimist M249 and Baker's Dozen. 1pc of each: Ceska, 5.11, Petrov, Golan, Grupo. Fox's Prayer. Tamper Proof and Companion. 5 blues, 1 red. All minor rolls red. Stinger Hive and Fixer Drone. Dish it out while being able to take it.

Clutch:

Emeline's Guard and Cold Relations. Coyote's Mask, Devil's Due, Grupo chest with Unbreakable, 1pc Walker, 2pc Sokolov. All reds, some Crit Chance, but mostly Crit Damage. Fixer and Revive. Get close to proc more Crit Damage, use Cold Relations for damage and Emeline's Guard for heals. I ran Heroic DUA with all 5 directives with another agent and only went down a few times, so I think it's a good build as long as you get positioning right.

Defender:

Mechanical Animal and Sweet Dreams. 1pc Ceska, Grupo with Concussion, Tardigrade, 1pc Hana-U, 2pc Alps. 1 red, 2 blues, 4 yellows (Technician). Repair skills, Handling, and a bit of Crit makes this build a jack of all trades, but master of none. Defender Drone and Artificer. Mechanical Animal is great get more skill tiers as you kill and Defender drone helps you keep killing. I wouldn't recommend this for solo because when the drone is down, you basically have no skills and you can't exactly deal enough damage to handle yourself.

That's all the builds that I have that I consider worth sharing. What are some of your unique builds?

You mean there is other builds besides 3 providence, contractors, prayers, coyote mask and M1A?

Yeah replace coyote with hollowman lol.

Sir-xer21•

an replace contractors with grupo because its been better since the nerf.

My Shredder build was something close to that before I got Ninjabike pads. It's still pretty orthodox but I never felt attracted to such a simple, typical build. Regardless, I'm still impressed when someone has full red build like that!

Nice builds, love agents who think outside the box and aren’t afraid to try new things.

Put this one together a couple days ago, the more I play it the more it surprises me.

Very fun and can handle a lot more content than you would think.

I like it! I've heard elsewhere about the EP backpack being a better option than Wicked. I guess the only drawback is you don't get the same time of rolls one can find on other backpacks.

Wicked can actually be better than the EP backpack for OD builds if you don't have any other sources of Total Weapon Damage. Wicked provides total weapon damage, which is multiplicative to weapon damage from red cores and weapons. It only falls behind amplify damage if you have other sources of TWD on your build. If Wicked is the only source of TWD, it is equivalent to an amplify talent.

I switched from the EP backpack to the Golan named backpack with Perfectly Wicked. That's 15% amplify from EP on status-affected targets vs. 18% TWD for 27 seconds from Wicked. Damage is higher when using the Wicked backpack.

For a traditional Red OD build I agree 100%. Anarchist’s is better.

However, for this particular build EP is king.

Worth noting that Pestilence ticks are not affected by Amp Damage, only Weapon Damage - not sure if bugged or intended. Easily verified in the shootng range if you want to check it out.

Thank you!

Did some testing and EP backpack is amazing if you want a well rounded build.

If you’re going for more of a Red Gunplay build then you’re better off with Anarchist’s Cookbook.

Running a high crit build NOT using Glass Cannon but Unbreakable and Blood sucker..Repair skills and Armor regen :)

Turret/Drone:

Braced and Perfect Combined Arms. I like to use the Sniper Turret with the Striker Drone. Skill Damage and Skill Haste rolls. Harmony 95% of the time, the other 5% is Mechanical Animal to get occasional Overcharge.

I run an offensive twist on this - 1 pc Murakami, 1 pc Wyvern. 3 pc Hana-U & 1 pc Fenris. 6 Yellow & 1 red. GC & Perfect Combined arms, Assault Turret & Striker Drone. G36 with In-sync & Mechanical Animal.

Also running an explosive build with Vile, 1 pc Wyvern, 2 pc China Light, 2 pc Hana-U, demo spec, Mortar turret & striker drone. The mortar procs bleed, which also procs vile. Striker turret for mop-up and damaging heavies. LMG with In-sync rolled with DTA, since DTA buffs explosive damage and Vile ticks, and OOC also buffs Vile ticks

If you like Negotiators, one tweak that I've done is match it with the Coyote mask for the boost in CHC/CHD.

Another is to swap its chest piece with Chainkiller. That + Coyote gets you 60% CHC that when combined with the headshot multiplier of Chainkiller, your headshot damage skyrockets.

All that gear fit in one character? I imagine you just don’t pick up any loot unless it strengthens one of those builds?

2
Long-RollOP•

I have my gear split between two characters, that's why I have so much space. I've gotten so much loot that it's come to the point where I mark as junk if the piece has less than about 90% rolls on all slots, or if there's only one slot that requires recal.

I pick up any good loot in case I want to make a new build later on that could use it. Feel free to ask for advice on inventory management.

2
Sir-xer21•

Providence Kneepads. Kneepads should probably be Fox's Prayer but I like to be different, and it's got great rolls already.

you're right, they should be fox's prayers.

nothing about the providence rolls will out pace the OoC damage buff. nothing. being different just to be different does no one favors.

2
Long-RollOP•

Does it really make a difference if I'm using Chainkiller, which caps my damage at a certain point? I'd say I'm pretty good at getting headshots. If I'm in a mission and I'm not getting headshots, then I switch loadouts because then I'm not filling any niche, so the need for Fox's Prayer disappears.

1
Sir-xer21•

i mean, does it matter? insofar as its on some level, nerfing your damage, yeah. its the difference between one shotting certain enemies. its not going to come up often, but it is a difference. you're running a nerfed build for no apparent reason, and if you're damage is capped, its not really "being different".

2
Long-RollOP•

Fair point. I think I have a Fox's Prayer that'll work for this build so I'll give it a try.

1
Wrexzer•

Question on the vile/status effect one you mentioned wouldnt the pyromanic be a better choice over the pesti or no?

1
Long-RollOP•

Maybe not over the pesti, but pyromaniac would be a good choice for your secondary. I've been finding the mech animal to not get enough chained kills to make it worth it. I'd say the pesti is still a better choice than the pyromaniac because of its damage over time. You can deal a lot of damage while still being behind cover if you have an enemy getting burned, Vile debuffed, and Pesti debuffed.
