Any luck flipping Beanie Babies?

Discussion

Anyone have luck flipping 1990’s Beanie Babies? I stumbled upon someone’s mint condition collection, tag protectors included, for about $50. Anyone have luck flipping these? I’m thinking of taking a chance on it since I found a Princess Diana bear and some of the floppy eared, pastel colored rabbits. Thinking I could at least turn a small profit on a $50 investment. Thoughts?

I can flip one a few feet into a trash can.

Haha, thanks for the laugh! I remember the craze was at a fevered pitch back in the 90’s, but I’m better off letting my 2 year old maul them up instead

I made a good bit of money on them when the craze was still happening. They are only good as actual toys now.

Just sold my collection of 140 for $30. Some guy asked me to pay him to pick up the collection lol.

Depends. Do they have display cases? If so, sell the cases and dump the BBs :-)

Lol this is exactly what I'm doing with my moms collection. My wife kept some "cute " ones and the cases are going on fb marketplace separately

Here's a previous response I had to a similar Beanie Baby question..

As a side note, there are some that are worth it, but it's far and few in between. If you want some that are worth decent money and are easy to remember, then just look for the Spongebob Squarepants series of Beanie Babies Ty did, notably the squid, crab, and pineapple. The other characters are worth $15-20 each, but those three fetch upwards on $70 and are sold on a regular basis. Obviously nothing earth-shattering, but it's something that's easy to remember, easy to spot, and a nice little flip from a $2 investment.

I used to be able to get 50¢ for them at flea markets. I had little girls buying them and ladies who bought them to put into care packages. I didn’t ever buy them specifically to flip though. They’d always come along with other stuff I’d purchased. I’d pass, it’s not worth the time/effort.

I found a princess Diana beanie in my grandmother’s basement and listed it weeks ago. Started around $300 because the pricing on sold eBay listings was really weird, like why are some selling for thousands and others for like $20? I don’t know the answer but I’m going to guess money laundering. Mine is still sitting in my store as I drop the price lower and lower waiting for a bite.

Anyway, 100% not worth it. You would be lucky to sell on eBay for $50

Wow! The eBay listings are very misleading for sure, thanks for the insight!

No problem! Yeah, I made a post a few weeks ago when I first found the beanie on r/eBay and they were the ones who suggested money laundering, and that made the most sense. Because there are slight differences like where the beanie was manufactured/type of pellets/errors but when IDENTICAL beanies would sell for vastly different prices, something is definitely off

Here's a guide that shows you how to determine how much any particular Princess beanie is worth and which version you have.

I did great buying and selling beanie babies in the late 90s. Not enough value or scarcity these days to bother with.
