I recommend KartKraft. It's a great indie racing game. I haven't played a game that has similar physics. All previous kart racing games seem to be mario kart copies with wildly unrealistic physics that focus on manipulating the powerslide mechanic to get speed boosts. KartKraft is not like that at all, it's more like an actual 100% serious racing game, except it takes place with your head less than 2 feet off the ground, with physics that are punishingly realistic to the point where it's actually one of the more difficult racing games I own, but the way the karts handle is just so fun and unique and literally just doesn't exist in any other racing game that I'm aware of.

And the VR implementation is OK. It actually helps the game to be in VR because it allows you to lean into turns and see where your tire is in relation to the corner, something you can't really do with a basic controller setup.

I found it to run very poorly in VR, to the point that I gave up on it even though I liked the racing. I couldn't get smooth performance with a GTX 1080, and yet it didn't even look very good compared to other games. People say it's because of the Unreal engine (similar to Assetto Corsa Competizione which also struggles in VR).

It's the first VR update and overall the game is in early access. We should give feedback on VR to the developer and hopefully they'll improve it

I like racing sims. I play Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally, and iRacing quite often. I was playing these games with a screen really close to my face before, but in Assetto Corsa I had to use a mod that allow you to slightly turn your view towards the same direction you are turning, which is very helpful to hit the apexes. Then I started playing these same games and other in VR this year after getting my new stand and wheel. I can no longer racing games without VR, which is the only reason I haven't buy other games like F1 2020, plus my FOV would be really messed up as I can no longer use a screen with the correct size close to me.

I prefer to lower the graphic settings (although I usually don't need to do that as my computer is quite beefy) and run it in VR than play it on ultra settings with only one screen far away from me.

So I bought Saints and Sinners and Zero Caliber.

Has anyone else pulled the trigger on anything here?

I enjoy creed for a workout, raw data surprisingly still can find co-op which makes it much more enjoyable . doom vr is short but if you have an oculus device the turn controls may not work so physically turning and seeing demons may startle you .

Is Raw Data worth it for $6.80? It always seems to be around that price.

Honestly I wasn’t keen on it. I saw this review which made me feel I would get bored of it. https://youtu.be/kScgBmzo75U

Also, it’s one of the earlier 2017 games, and I personally felt they were either too short, tech demos, or just not that good... In some cases, the games were excellent, like Robo Recall etc...

Definetly. I love wave shooters.

Zero Caliber

I am getting a really good feeling about Zero Caliber - not only do you keep trying again to make money and XP to level up literally 1000's of guns (in single player, or coop), but they are already beta testing the PVP multiplayer functionality.

It's actually a pretty awesome underrated game!

See this review of it in 2020, and it's had quite a few updates since it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv-HDepB7Yo

Gosh great deal on Walking Dead. If only I wasn't in the middle of Divinity OS2 and Fallout 4 VR...

1
Sabbathius•

It's a bit of a mixed bag, and a different one, Walking Dead: Onslaught, is coming at the end of September (28th?).

It's pretty heavily repetitive (you'll be going back to same tiny maps over and over) and gameplay is a bit annoying (noodle-arms based on stamina of the character). Not a bad game, but just like Creed vs Thrill of the Fight, it depends on what you're into.

Don’t miss out on it. I bought it, and don’t regret it. It’s so good :)
