Help for an unorganized person

Advice Received

So I'm the type of person with 10 thousand unread emails, a messy car, finding my clothes and things in unusual places. I also on average lose my debit card 3 times a year. And my license, lets not go there.

I'm not an unproductive person, I'm doing alot as a dad and with my career. I just feel like i could use some refernces to be more organized without it feeling like a tremendous amount of work.

If anyones managed to go from someone like myself to having 0 problem with someone stepping into their car, id appreciate some advice.

Start small, focus on fixing one issue at a time. The emails for example. Do you use any filters for them? Set up filters to automatically delete any emails that are likely spam, any that are about someone posting something on social media, that sort of thing.

In terms of your cards and license. I'd buy a good wallet and attach a tile to it that helps you find it. I've linked one below, but you can buy them cheaper. You can also use card payments via phone, meaning you can leave your cards at home. I'm fairly sure the majority of places have contactless these days.

Messy car. Another easy one. Leave a trash bag near the door in a morning and when you stop outside wherever you needed to go, fill it up. Once you return home, throw it in the trash. If there's anything you need to keep, put it in another back.

There's a super solid quote from Martin Luther King Jr that I think applies to stuff like this and it's that "you don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." You can translate that into not doing it all at once, but taking it one step at a time.
