Freedom?
Most times I get tempted to reach out,
But there are other things now that you have to think about.
I wanted to tell you that I still love and care,
But you needed space, and I just wouldn't dare.
You want to grow, you want to be free,
To try and experience new things without me.
You want to face the world on your own.
And handle some of your problems alone.
For a while, you were a kite and I was your string,
Until you felt alone and it became tiring.
You sought to fly and to chase your dreams and all those times I've kept you company,
But now you want to search for purpose, for a new meaning and I've no choice but to agree.
So you've cut the cord and we drifted apart,
Now I'm tending to my broken heart.
I only wish for the wind to take you where you want to go,
Because I've always wanted You to realize your glow.
I see now, that you're not a kite but a star.
And I was your moon watching, reflecting from afar.
So when the time comes and until we meet again,
I hope you're brighter, happier and ready to start together again.

First off, I really like the metaphors you're using in this poem. The kite and it's string, the moon, and the star. I believe it says just about what it's trying to say, and expresses how you feel when someone has moved on and you can only be happy for them. The only criticism I might give is to make sure to make your lines a bit more to the point, or to just polish them up a little bit as a final touch. Great poem!
Thank you for your kind words!
