Microcenter and Price Matching

I just went to Microcenter to get my 2500k processor and I ended up getting my entire build there. At my local Microcenter they were willing to price match Newegg and then still provide mail in rebates. I am sharing this because it may save some people money to go over their entire list with a salesman while in Microcenter to get their 2500k and see which other items are cheaper there.

Edit: I was not aware that this was anything other than standard policy, so I apologize if my reluctance to give my location is frustrating. It was a major metropolitan area on the East Coast. If anyone lives in that area and wants to check their city, please PM me. I will confirm it through PM only. For privacy reasons I don't want to post my city on Reddit.

I don't really want to give my location out on Reddit. It was in a major metropolitan area of the East Coast. If you live there, PM me your region and I will let you know if it is mine.

I'm guessing he's referring to the Microcenter in the DC area.

Why does Microcenter and only Microcenter have that crazy deal on the 2500k?

My guess is that it's because it's in store only, so there's no direct competition to online retailers (for much of the US). Not many other brick and mortar computer stores anymore other than big boxes like Best Buy, and they certainly don't give a damn about price matching this sort of thing. Frys is somewhat questionable as they're in some of the same markets - maybe because Microcenter is more obscure they don't view it as a direct threat?

Edit: Also consider that since you're buying in store, you will have to pay sales tax (for most states). That could end up being around 10% of the sticker price. For the 2500k you're still getting a deal, but only about $20 off the next retailer. For Microcenter's price on the 2600k Newegg's most recent sale would have been cheaper.

Which location?

That would help as this may be a "your mileage my vary" type of situation.

You could just say which store. Even state at least. I doubt redditors will try to rape you.

Perhaps, but I would prefer to be careful. As I have said, I will confirm through PM but am not comfortable giving more than "East Coast" out. I hope that you can respect that, even if you disagree.

You pricematched and paid 200 for a 6870?

Can I get your name and social security #? It would really make it easier for me to look into your request.
