We are heading to york on the 12th, for what would have been our wedding day, I have just gone to book a table at Mr Ps curious tavern and it’s closed down!! Any recommendations for similar places to eat? We are staying in the city centre so can’t be too far away.

There’s a couple - Andrew Pern’s other restaurant ‘The Star Inn the city’ or maybe the other option would be ‘Roots’ which is Tommy Banks’ restaurant and does an amazing tasting menu.
Tommy Banks has been doing precooked food boxes for home delivery (now with pick up), I've had a couple, very nice.
Roots, Skosh, The rattle owl, Arras all spring to mind as really nice places for something special
Not sure what you're after food wise so let's break it down:
- Steak: The Whippet Inn or The Cut and Craft (the Whippet Inn has also amazing cocktails and Gins; the Whippet Inn is great price for quality)
- Thai: The Monkey and The Dog or Khao San (actually tastes like Thai)
- North African: Los Moros (small and delicious)
- Polish: The Blue Barbakan (exquisite for Breakfasts and Dinners)
- Italian: Lucia (unless you want an Italian Pizza then The Hop Pub)
All of those places I tried many a times myself. I also work for the local Event Management Company so if you have any other tastes, let me know.
I was going to suggest the Go Down on Clifford Street, but it closed down in January, I'm sad now.
Lucky days cafe does excellent desserts.

Areas is in the mix for fine dining. Up there with Skosh and Roots. Star In The City isn’t as good as it used to be. For amazing desserts head to Oshibi where the bae is their signature and was incredible when I had it. El Goucho do good steaks and I’ve heard good things about the Press Kitchen.
To add to the other comment: Skosh, Melton's, Le Cochon are all excellent.
