Something lame. Getting out of a hammock and it fell out of my sweatshirt pocket onto a bunch of small rocks.

My hero6 dropped a couple times and still fine. Now im worried if I should be more carefull..

i guess you have protective case for your gopro. If yes, then no need to worry that much

were you not using protection while it was the sweatshirt pocket? i dont think i can even do that, paranoid of scratches by being inside the pocket. no offense, you were just being careless.

Man I feel this pain. I just cracked my phone screen a few weeks ago the same way. Got out of the hammock and it fell out of my hoody pocket and managed to bounce under my foot as I was stepping down and it went face down on some rocks and I managed to stop myself from putting my full weight down but I still heard the crack...spidered the screen

probably just a fluke. I've beat mine up pretty good so far with no issues.

Similar thing happened on my 8 as I was climbing, it hit the wall and cracked the front screen. The lens was ok thankfully but it really didn’t hit that hard.

I really wish GoPro sells screen Tempered glass protectors for the Hero 9 touch screen.

This might have been a bit of a freak accident since it’s the first time I’ve cracked a screen since owning every GoPro.

I buy tempered glass screen protectors from Amazon for every GoPro I own, it just gives me a bit of peace of mind and prevents this from happening

Can you still use all the housings with those glass screen protectors?

Yeah, I’ve never had any issues with that. The housings generally leave a bit of space around the screen so it hasn’t caused any issues so far

I think you still have the warranty. Call the store where you got the camera from and have your GoPro replaced.

It happens and try contact GoPro they should do something about it and give you new one and then try buying case for it I really recommend case.

Not positive for the hero 9, but I feel like they have to have them. I have a hero 6 and I have protectors on all the screens.

GoPro plus no questions asked replacement but you have to pay the $99 fee. If you didn't sign up already do it and wait a few days and request a replacement. Really bullshit that the screen protection isn't already on thier site. Good luck

i tossed mine to my cousin on the couch and it hit her phone case and broke my touch screen not as durable as i thought really bummed

this is why my gopro lives in the dive housing, even though I never do any diving
I actually bought mine for diving, but I also don't intend to ever use the gopro without the protective case, it's just not worth the risk. For people who don't dive, a protective case from amazon costs like 15 euro, and protects all parts of your go pro. I only bought the official one because I wouldn't trust a cheap case to go diving
My Hero 5 died while in water. It was fully sealed and maybe went 1ft deep in water (just on the surface snorkeling). Then got overheating message and it shut down. Same thing happened a few times, and it wouldn't turn on again. Found it somehow leaked into the battery compartment. Gopro took no responsibility since it wasn't the first time it was in water.
I at least managed to sell it on ebay for about £100 (I guess someone maybe had the deal/subscription where they can get free replacements?).
Since then I almost always try and use the dive housing when in water as I don't trust them being fully waterproof. Just need a cheaper one for the 9 to come out.
I also found in Jordan, they take dive housing off you at the airport (but you get it back when you leave). No idea why. But put it in your pocket when they scan your bags at the exit if you want to keep it. But I ended up using my gopro in the dead sea without the case, and it also kept shutting down. Maybe as it didn't like the super salty water? But it luckily still worked after. So again it doesn't seem fully reliable without a case.
