There’s evidence of a “gnostic” group of Christians very early in the religion who seem to believe that the Snake is actually god and that the god we see in the Bible is a false idol. In their gospel of St Judas text, Judas doesn’t betray Jesus: he’s the only apostle who knows the truth. Jesus feels sorry for the apostles for their worshipping of the false god, but does not hate them. Judas was told to betray Jesus to the Romans in order for him to be a martyr.

Obviously this variation of Christianity never took off, but it’s interesting to note that had it, this shitty Facebook meme would imply that fact checkers are either literally god, or doing the lords work to destroy lies of a false idol

It took off. Just not to the same extent as Catholicism.

My fave part is that the message is completely messed up. The snake is telling them to bite the apple, not stopping them from it. So in the reference, the fact checker would be telling people to post whatever they wanted even if God said not to. Which is the opposite of what fact checkers are doing in real life.

The snake was right, they didn’t die from eating the apple. So the point is missed.

Lmao but the last person you can expect to get details from the bible correct is an American Christian.

As an American Christian, I can say that this is 100% true

Sadly, Jesus tells a beautiful story that so few have actually heard.

I didn't know that sub existed but my god. Their rules alone are terrifying. Number one is "no debating." I get a no being rude rule, but they just don't want people to tell them they're wrong about literally everything. It was nice of them to include a ban on antisemitism though, even though the whole concept of a new world order is an antisemitic trope

Debatable. In my experience it has deeper roots in the 18th century anti-masonic prejudices (see: Memoirs Illustrating the History of Jacobinism by Augustin Barruel, the original Illuminati theorist), but there's plenty of crossover (indeed, many over the centuries have sought to demonize Jews by claiming they're controlled by Freemasons or to demonize Freemasons by claiming they're controlled by Jews). Even large chunks of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion were plagerized practically word-for-word from an earlier anti-masonic screed (among other sources), with certain key words replaced (nobody ever accused antisemites of being creative).
