Quick question about multiple workers

Very new to mining (part-time with my lowly GTX 260; someday I will move to a dedicated rig) and just started on MtRED.

I was wondering about multiple workers. If I have more than one miner running (e.g. my GPU and my CPU), is it better to create 2 workers on the site, or just one and point both miners to it? And if the answer is the latter, then in what circumstance would I want to make multiple workers?

I personally do multiple workers and have one setup for each rig. The main reason I use multiple is so I can see if one of the rigs is having problems. You could set up a worlker for each GPU and CPU you have if you wanted to. I do not see any advantage in the actual mining process of having them all point to a single worker.

Hope that this at least helps you if not answers your question.

Ah, it does make sense for tracking the status of various machines. Thanks for the feedback!

You can point multiple miners to one worker? That's news to me! I have 3 seperate workers one for each of my NVidia mining computers (bought before I knew of bitcoin)

I can, but I'm not sure if it is the right thing to do (hence the question). For example, I was worried that maybe two miners pointed at the same worker could potentially end up doing duplicate work (though based on limited experimentation, this doesn't seem to be the case as I would expect to get more rejected shares).

It would only be useful if one had 10's or hundreds of miners to set up, because creating a worker for each one would be a chore.
