HP Omen 15 vs ASUS TUF A15

Recommendation

Hi all!

I'm currently looking for a decent laptop to replace my HP Envy that just had a hinge break on me. I'll be using it for school primarily, but my boyfriend has gotten me into starting to play some games so I want something that can handle that as well! Since my Envy couldn't handle gaming, I've been borrowing his Cyberpower gaming laptop that has an i7 and (i think) a GTX 1070, for games like Civ, Fallout 4, diablo 3, and minecraft. I hope to be able to branch out into other games as well once I have my own gaming laptop.

I'm basically stuck between:

and

I've seen some videos comparing them and it seems the HP Omen has a better screen/better colors, and better cooling. I also like the look of the HP Omen, as it doesn't look super gamer-y and I might need to bring it to class with me (if we ever go back in person). I do want 16gb of ram and more than a 512gb SSD but that version of the Omen is $1350 and i don't know if I can spend that much.

So, should I go with the cheaper ASUS or do the HP and upgrade the ram myself? Or even wait until the more expensive Omen goes on sale?

Any advice or any experiences with either laptop would be very much appreciated!

Side note: has anyone had any hinge issues with HP Omen? I'm just a little wary of getting another HP if the same thing is going to happen to it like my envy.

Omen. Trust me, the difference between the thermals is night and day.

Go for the Omen. The A15 has overheating issues (1660Ti and 2060 models).

Go for the Omen and keep an eye out for RAM and SSD sales.

I have it and have had zero issues with the hinge. Good luck!

Go for ASUS for cheaper prices but if you really care about display drama then pay extra more and go for HP. anything else are the same literally. even build quality asus have a little edge on that due to [MID] tests , hinge on HP won't last long.. even Lenovo got the same hinge issues.
