If you're certain that you don't have a heat pump then you needed to mirror the labels on the inside of your old thermostat. The white wire would need to go to W1, and the black wire would go to W2.

I think that was my error, I assumed I had a heat pump (what I had before moving into this home)

And why it functioned fine all summer with the AC only...

But yes I had a furnace company come out two weeks ago and they said it was just AC / Furnace. He even looked into the AC and said there was a piece missing for it to have been a heat pump (reversing valve I believe)

I was asked to provide some additional photos yesterday when I stated I was having some problem with my heat / ecobee not functioning properly.

In the album I have photos of my wiring, the original wiring, and the wires of the heater itself.

I was told that I have just an AC / Heater no heat pump.

Issues:

  1. while in “Heat” both AC and Heater running
  2. while in “Aux” only fan runs, no heater
  3. when in “Heat” the heater never turns off, temp continues to rise and heater runs even when flame is white (not orange)

I’m assuming I accidentally wired my system as a heat pump or duel fuel system but I’m struggling to find resources on what exactly to correct

Take a picture of the thermostat terminals on the furnace. Take another pic of the ecoBee thermostat wiring. Hopefully you also have a picture of the original thermostat's wiring, as well. Post all of those pics and hopefully someone can help you.

Those are in the Imgur album... right? Or what do you mean by terminals?

Not sure why you couldn’t add the Imgur link to the other thread you started but after seeing your thermostat wiring then I agree with what was said in the comment I linked below. You need to wire it according to the inner labels which would put white in w1 and black in w2.

And if you still don’t know, that’s a 2 stage furnace.

I'm not sure what this has to do with inciting a civil war
