Yess!! Mixel supremacy!!!
Did you make your own Allspice dram or buy it?
Made my own! Bought some bulk spices and everclear so that after adding the syrup it’d still be strong. Basically followed this recipe, plus a vanilla pod and grated nutmeg: https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/02/diy-allspice-dram-make-your-own-st-elizabeths-pimento-dram-recipe.html
I’ve made it a couple times now, and if you buy the spices in bulk it’s quite economical, and you can play with the spice mix and sweetness/strength. I think next batch I’ll try some coconut sugar instead of brown and see how that goes!
What is "Whiskey" in the recipe?
My guess is a bourbon or something. It can't be something peaty because that's already described in the recipe. Something American.
Yes, sorry! I wanted to leave it open to people to play with. I used a cheap Irish whiskey because a lot of the nuance gets hidden by the other flavors, but I also tried it with Rittenhouse Rye which gave it much more of a burn, and Buffalo Trace bourbon which was wonderful but much more mellow. It’s quite sweet, so if you like more bite I recommend Rittenhouse or something else a bit over proof and spicy.
Sounds tight.
Made me want to lay on the floor and listen to jazz XD
I made alot of drinks I never thought of taking pictures of. I don't care, my taste buds will remember.
Tonight is Virtual Pubnite with my college friends, and I have Allspice Dram, so this cocktail is on the menu!
I’d love to know what you think!
Will do. Look for a review at around 11:30 PM EDT (when virtual oubnite normally adjourns)
Well, virtual pubnite got cancelled by parenting (my daughters were horsing around and the Teen Ninja flipped a deck of post-it notes into the fencing master’s eye, resulting in an emergency room visit). BUT...
...now I am sipping one of your Pipe Tobacco cocktails. It reminds je of a Rusty Nail (Scotch, herbs, sweet). I love it! I may adjust the maple sugar level downward for my taste. This will now be part of my repertoire.
Since this is in Mixel, is there a way you can share this out easily? I know there is the ability to scan QR codes, is there a way for you to create one? I would love to import it. Maybe we could start a mixel sharing subreddit?
Y’know that didn’t occur to me and it turns out they 100% have a feature for that. You live you learn: https://links.mixelcocktails.com/5z8u
