I am curious as to what are the advantages of taking the GMAT online. I have heard that we could send the score to any number of universities without any additional cost, Is that true?? Also are there any cons for taking the test online.

Might be good to check official current literature on the matter at mba.com
Some folks have reported issues with the online exam, so running into any sort of technical issue clearly would be a con. However, there are also many students who have reported no issues with the online GMAT. So, if you prefer to take the GMAT at home and have a good private space in which to take the exam, I don't see any reason not to give it a shot.
