Demo for commercials - copyright infringement

Advice

Hi ya'll, hope everyone is doing well. Quick question. So I'm brand new to all this and am just getting started. I've built a sound booth, have my mic and audio interface, etc. I was listening to a pro voice actor/ coach recommend to find commercials on YouTube or the net, transcribe them, and record your version for your demo. I like the idea of this, but it seems like it would infringe on their copyright or intellectual property. Is this allowed? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone had a great turkey day if you celebrate it!

Just swap the brand names out for something else, so instead of Bounty, make it Blossom. Also, no one is coming after your demo for copyright, have no fear! Best of luck!

No one will care. It's understood these are demonstrations and have been for decades. That said... Pick copy that reflects your current abilities. It's highly doubtful beginners are ready for a national Coke ad. Local and regional businesses are more believable. Also, if you pick a widely known commercial you risk being compared to the original and will most likely lose that battle.

Maybe pair up with someone who is pursuing writing as an art or career and have some scripts made that benefit both of you?

Apparently it's considered fair use and is expected in the industry. Thanks for the recommendations.
