Pretty sure my mom found the skirt I was hiding and took it because it's gone from where I put it, I don't know when she took it because I've been just in hoodies constantly and she hasn't said anything about it, I don't know what to do

“Hey mom?”, “Ya?”, “Have you seen my (color) skirt? It just disappeared from my room” lol I’m brutally direct though and fearless.

Go and take her favorite skirt.

I mean..

Moms: Where's my skirt?

Us Baby-trans: Where's my skirt?

What she going to do? Ground you in the middle of a pandemic induced lockdown?

Oh, well–😶

^(Never mind then. Carry on.)

^(But regardless of ideology, please stay safe out there.)

Talk. To. Her.

She knows, there’s nothing that can make it worse except ignoring it. Letting it fester is not good, but addressing it can only help you in the end.

It may go well. It may not go well. But she knows, and you want your clothing back right? She’s probably worried/concerned and has no idea how to address this with you. The fact she didn’t go off the walls upon finding it is a good sign she won’t flip out when you talk to her.

I'm worried though, she hasn't been particularly kind with me or my siblings these past few days/weeks, so I feel scared that she'll just treat me worse, and it'll be another thing for her to complain about. Thanks for the advice, sorry if I don't respond for a bit,I'm just gonna go to school and the battery will die

Only do what's comfortable, but it could be that she's having difficulty with processing it and that's why she's been lashing out at you. I don't want to come out to my parents because even though they'd be supportive, I don't want my mom to have that much power over me again

I bet she was concerned and decided wash and iron it for you.

Naive me actually thought she might have done this, but even if she did, she put the skirt in a not very visible location somewhere

You just need to take note and be as passive aggressive as she is.

Because passive aggression is a child's weapon of parental destruction.

(separate rant: but I hate how we're expected to "come out" while cishet's aren't. Why are our personal inner lives considered up for public debate?)

Because if she isn't saying anything, you don't have to.. She doesn't sound supportive, so why initiate any further problems? Just make sure you start future planning for college/adulthood so you'll be set for success and independence when you hit 18/21.

Sorry for late reply, as I said in another comment, school do be going still sadly. Anout the rant, I immediately thought, "right!", and then a lot of people internalize that thinking because cishet is considered the "normal" and think they have to prove they're trans/gay even though they never thought about proving their cisness or straightness.

About the last paragraph, I planned on doing that anyway, because I live in Hungary and have no other choice but to move to transition. I'm getting some conflicting advice though, I don't think I will tell her unless I can go on blockers somehow, but if she becomes kinder and the opportunity for blockers or at least a gender therapist exists, then I will tell her

Conflicting advice because opinions will vary, and not everyone knows the full details of your situation. And I'm assuming most just assumed you're in America or another, more progressive country.

I'm not sure what the governments response to its LGBT+ population is in Hungary, but if your mother isn't supportive and you are still under her care, I would not recommend doing anything to jeopardize your home life.

Mom: Oh the skirt that was in your ____? Yeah I found it when I was looking through your shit for drug paraphernalia and figured 'why do you have a skirt'? So I stole it from you and gave it to ____.

You: Oh, thanks mom. How would you feel if I went snooping through your ____ and took one of your ____s and gave it to ____?

Mom: That's different.

You: Okay, Boomer. Btw I'm trans. Love you ttyl! *scurries off*
