JRPGs that would work well as live action movies or series
I was thinking the other day how the Xenosaga trilogy would make for an excellent tv series. honestly you could keep a lot of material and direction as is and it would translate well. the series relies a lot more on conversational scenes rather than action (although there is that as well) setpieces which would keep down production costs. most of the characters are quite believable and their personal struggles and relationships would be palatable to a western audience (if, say, Netflix would produce it).
it would still make for extremely compelling watching considering how strong the storyline is and how far its philosophical topics go. the philosophy is also mostly western in origin which would make it familiar with the audience (unless it was targeted towards Japan). they even have the story planning all laid out, just have 1 Xenosaga episode correspond to 1 season. of course there would have to be some compromise when transforming it into a live action series, for example I doubt the cathedral fight would retain your suspension of disbelief lmao.
so that's one of the few JRPGs I could see truly working as a western (or even Japanese) show. what does r/jrpg think?

Koudelka and Shadow Hearts.
Koudelka would definitely work as a gothic horror British drama.
