At a glance I thought it was cran-mango, and thought "okay sure that doesn't seem that weird"

But it's fucking Mayo

What

Oil is what makes it burn like a candle, mayo is 80% oil. Emmymadeinjapan (who made this) does this kind of stuff just for fun though, note the emoji

That’s great, but it doesn’t come close to explaining why cranberry mayo exists in this world.

There was a weird trend in the US in the 50s/60s where people would make “salads” that usually involved either jello or mayonnaise or a mixture of the two. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like this came from that trend.

More than just salads. There were lots of things like hotdogs in jello and all sorts of weird things. For a while I wanted to get old pictures of gross weird foods to decorate my kitchen, all the old cook book shots that have that weird retro filter look with all the gross foods like Ambrosia Salad and all that stuff. It’s still something I ‘d like to do but it was more difficult than I anticipated

In my area "Thanksgiving" sandwiches are really popular. It's turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce - sometimes cranberry sauce mixed with mayo. It's not actually as bad as it sounds, I'm not a huge mayo person but it's pretty good! Especially if made as a Panini with some monterey jack.

Thx giving sandwiches are the tits. But fuck mayo in all forms. I'll take canned Cranberry Jello on a piece of toast with mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey, Monterey cheese, and stuffing any day, but for God's sake leave the mayo out of it.

It's just Cranberry, oil and eggs. Does that make it less weird? We used to make a Thanksgiving wrap at a restuarnta and it had Cranberry mayo as well. It's pretty good.

Because it's delicious

I know cranberry and mustard go surprisingly well together, but...

Mayo plays very well with even sweet flavors.

At first I thought.. "who the hell puts mayo on their cranberries?" and was disgusted

Then I thought... "well, putting cranberries into mayo...hmm curious.."

Let’s credit the creator, Emmymade who’s name was just above the crop... and will actually have a video about this! I’m excited?

I love Emmy so much, and I love her pure of heart chaos energy.

She is fantastic! She just sticks with what she likes and never takes herself too seriously. Case in point- her shirts that say “Eat the ducky moss!”

I love the way she talks, I often put on her channel to space out and fall asleep. She explains things so well and passionately, I can see it in my minds eye!

Thank you!! I was like "Hey... did they crop Emmy's info!?"

I love her content. Such a sweet channel and she treats EVERY dish with the utmost respect.

Good on Emmy maintaining the traditional natural Cranberry can indents.

I forget who I was watching the other day, this dad and kid that cook together, but they made this wonderful whole berry sauce, then put it in a can to set up because his mother only liked the stuff “from the can!”

Deli I worked at had a Thanksgiving wrap. Turkey, arugula, crushed walnut, cranberry-mayo. Freaking amazing

That sounds phenomenal!

It actually does.

3
SoldatPixel•

Was sceptical at first, but good Lord you wouldn't believe how well the cran-mayo works. Damn you mayo for making (almost) everything amazing.

7
CaptBranBran•

I'm 100% sold on the idea of cran-mayo. How did they do it, just puree cranberries and mayo together?

This is from a YouTube content creator that tries crazy recipes just to see how they turn out. She does not take this stuff seriously. She also tries canned hamburgers and MREs. Makes recipes based off viewer suggestions. She is lovely and very wholesome. Emmymade.
