That layout is so cool how did you achieved that?
I just used my keybinds in floating mode to place things.
Details:
OS: Void Linux
WM: bspwm
Status Bar: Polybar
Terminal: Alacritty
Editor: Vim
Apps on Screen: Vim, htop, tty-clock, pfetch
Bspwm is definitely my favourite window manager, hope you have lots of fun with it, looks good
It's been great, easy to configure too. Found bsp-layout which also let me set my 1st worspace to a master-stack, and still letting me keep manual tiling (which I also enjoy) on the others. I know its not the best solution, but it's been nice so far.
How does it compare to i3 in your opinion?
Think they are very, very close, quite similar. Transition from one to the other was very easy and smooth to me. Wouldn't even say bspwm has some obvious qualities that put it in front of i3, it's more of a personal preference.
Bottom line, I like to have key bindings separate from wm itself, the built in gaps in the default version, and it just plays very well with my Debian installation.
That being said, bspwm does feel a bit more bare bones out of the box, but nothing too major
I decided to switch to bspwm alongside switching to void so some of my own opinions may also overlap due to the arch/void switch that I did at the same time but to sum it up.
It's really nice, it feels a bit more minimal (which I like), and through the use of things like bsp-layout allows me to try layouts like master-stack (main-stack?). Also having that separation of keybinds and the wm's script keeps things a bit more organized imo.
