DJI Repair

So long story short, my Mavic got stuck in a tree but somewhere in the process of getting stuck and coming down, the gimbal broke. Amazingly the camera still works and you can see the feed, but the gimbal is not connected and the camera itself is only connected by the wire. I read through some threads about DJI's repair services being less than desirable so I am wondering if it is worth going through them or if a third party service can do it better. As far as I can tell, everything else is fine.

I called in and was told to submit a repair request form. If the crash is determined to be user error I will have to pay for repair but I just don't know what the cost would be and therefore whether or not it is worth sending in.

Well as GI Joe says knowing is half the battle. You can send it in get a quote and you can always tell them to send it back to you. It may be cheaper than you think since the wiring seems to be fine. I have an inspire 2 and have crashed it twice. Once it cost $350 to fix and the other time was closer to $1000 😵 so it’s worth it to at least send it in

Oh having it sent back is an option? Good to know, I'll see what happens then. I heard that the gimbal issues call for the entire gimbal to be replaced and saw someone saying he was being charged $900 for that so I was worried, at that point I'm buying a new drone because it makes no sense. Thanks a bunch!

Idk why DJI charges so much for a gimbal repair. It’s a quick swap. $150 is a good price IMO.

Do you know what they would normally charge? I figured the cost of replacing the camera and gimbal unit would be a bit high just because of the cost of the unit itself
