Today
If I possessed an endless youth,
And you could never die,
Would love be our eternal truth,
Or everlasting lie?
Would we caress for centuries,
The other’s honest lips,
Or fight the other’s falsities,
Until apocalypse?
But, wait! don’t answer what I ask—
Instead, assure this vow:
To truly love’s a timeless task,
So let us love for now.

I really felt this, it was great. It questioned how people usually view love; that it should last forever or at least a long time so it's meaningful. When maybe love and relationships are meaningful whether it lasts one day or a century. Most of our relationships (whether it's friendship, relationship or something else) is in our life for a certain period of time. So people should just focus on the moment, does it make them happy, is it real, is it meaningful. Thats the most important "vow" they should make. "To truly love is a timeless task" was my favourite line. I interperted in a way that people might be very in love for some time, but it may not last for ever, so people should just enjoy it. Thank you for this poem!
