Egg carton taking up too much space in your fridge? Cut the cartons to size by removing the spaces where there are no eggs.

I learned this recently and have found that most people don't do this.

What does this mean? Can you provide pics?

He means that after you remove some eggs, cut out the little quadrants they were in so it takes up less room in your fridge.

Cool, I started doing that earlier this year (when an additional housemate was introduced competing for fridge space). I usually just half the carton, however.

Don't you use the egg shelf in your fridge?

Don't have an egg shelf. And if I think I know what you are talking about, the shelf is more of a compartment for non egg items. The compartment opens extremely easily to the point where my eggs will fall out and splatter on my tile. Basically my egg shelf wasn't built for eggs.

I live in a crowded household with a plethora of jams, jars, meats, cheeses, and anything you can think of that would be refrigerated. I did empty out my fridge a week ago and thought this would be a helpful tip for people in my situation. I guess if you live alone or with one other person, this wouldn't apply to you. Also we buy the big ass cartons of eggs, not the tiny cheap ones you get at SaveMart or CVS.
