Something really weird is going on with my Reddit.

So, the location of the up/down votes keeps moving. Some days it’s down next to the reply button. Some days, like today, they’re next to the username. I ALMOST MADE THIS EXACT SAME POST YESTERDAY ABOUT THE UPVOTES BEING NEXT TO THE REPLY BUTTON. I second guessed it and deleted it before posting, thinking I’d sound nuts. But then today, what‘ya know, they moved again. Has anyone else noticed this?? Is it a glitch, or am I fast moving through universes here? (nervous chuckle)

edit: In case it wasn’t clear, I’m wondering if this is a computer glitch others are experiencing?
edit2: relevant info: I went and checked to make sure it wasn’t different subreddit themes or anything like that before posting.

They could be moving the web-code to change the location on purpose. It could be like when they rearrange the supermarket to force your perspective to their marketing schemes.

True, true! Very well could be.

Or some kind of A/B testing. Facebook and Instagram do it in this particular way all the time. They'll likely be monitoring your interactions and response to changes to see if it can benefit the user experience or profitability of the platform.

Hey! I just found your post by searching for exactly this issue. I think it's a site glitch, because I'm dealing with it too. I'm using Chrome browser, just for reference, and this is not happening in mobile layout. Yours is the only recent post I could find, but I suspect there will be more complaints soon. It's driving me crazy!

OMG I love you! Thank you for telling me it isn’t just me. It’s driving me nuts! Edit: for reference, I’m on Safari

haha no worries, I was worried it was just me too!

It might be something called variant or A/B testing. Basically, users will get different versions of the product to assess how it impacts their behavior. In your case, you might be seeing the upvote in a different place because staff are doing a test to see if placement affects interaction.

Or maybe it's just buggy code not adjusting to a change in screen size.

Yeah, mine moved also - it's driving me nuts.

I’m not alone! Hehe, thanks for replying. It’s good to know it isn’t just me

Lol; here's the irony - Having completely accepted the M.E., it truly doesn't even bother me anymore when my reality literally changes around me...ho hum, business as usual.

However, mess around with my reddit , and that's too much for me to handle...... :)

Now they’re going too far! 😂

The likes and comment numbers keep flipping for me. Literally as a I look at a page its up and down and up and down so fast. I wondered if that was a glitch.

It's next to the username in a browser and next to the reply on mobile/if your browser window is small enough width. Maybe it was a web issue and you were seeing the mobile layout for some reason, or just remembering the mobile layout in the context of browser?

Thank you for replying! I really appreciate it. It may be an issue with my browser. Thank you so much, this really helped. It’s been driving me nuts.

of course, glad it helps! honestly had to check for myself bc i was seeing them in the browser layout but remembered them at the bottom like you did haha. kind of silly that they don’t have the same layout everywhere!

Well, now they’re down by the reply button again.
