I wish every track felt like Oulton Park

Discussion

So, I'm not very good at iRacing. After over 200 road starts, my IR is almost exactly where it started. I've tried a lot of content but havn't found many cars where I can feel the level of grip, and havn't found any where I'm competetive.

Except at Oulton Park. Everything I've tried there feels awesome. Even the Radical makes me feel like a pro, which at most tracks I could spin every other corner. I'm guessing all the undulations work the suspension so much it just gives more feedback.

If anyone has the same issue, what other tracks bring out the best in the car?

To be fair, if your iRating hasn't moved much after 200 road starts, I'd say you're actually fine at iRacing. Finishing averagely in most races you run requires skill for sure.

Suzuka, I'm stuck an the 2.5k range but could probably break 3k if I somehow only raced Suzuka.

I don't think I'm even particularly good there, just love the track which seems to bring out confidence and performance.

Summit Point for me. I was able to get a top-split podium in Miatas there, and finished P4 in GT3 Cup my first week ever racing that car (and that car is a LOT). I use VRS so I know the types of times I should be shooting for in top splits but I can never get closer than a second or two, depending on the track length. But Summit Point is the only track I’ve ever been close to matching the VRS times in multiple cars.

If a series is at Oulton I usually race it. Probably my favourite UK track. My local track as well so I intend to go there for a track day one day.

I always go quite competitively at Oulton but it is tricky to overtake because it is quite narrow. I'm always quick out of turn 1, but then trying to run side-by-side down the Avenue into Cascades can often end in disaster.

Ouch. That's going to take some buffing.

He was out for a while after that crash I think. I know he was out at some point due to a crash anyway, would knock the wind out of anybody for about a week!

No grip? I’d encourage you all to run IRFFB and vJoy if you are not already.

I am just starting to experiment with IRFFB, thank you very much.

Even on t150 wheel? Is it worth

Especially on a T-150. Less necessary on DD wheels but can still add resolution.

Yep right there with you. I love that track. Got my first win there last season and then got my second win there the very next race.

Silverstone for me. Love that track. It's really technical.

That’s the São Paulo circuit for me. Something about that track just clicks for me in just about every game I’ve played it on

You're over-driving them.

You're probably right! Though I think there are areas where I under-drive. For instance the MX-5 this week at Charlotte roval, T1 is understeer hell which to me means I should back off a little. But then I watch someone else doing a fast lap and they seem to just push through it and apply LOTS more steering input. That goes against everything I thought I knew.
