In central N.J., is Uber operating in the snow?

I am in the Branchburg/Whitehouse area right on U.S. Route 22. I'm temporarily disabled due to a knee rebuild and I need to get the store later today. I attempted to find out what the ride would cost, but it says "no cars available " I've never gotten that message before and was wondering if perhaps Uber wasn't operating in my area. The highway is plowed and open. Maybe I should just try again later since I'm not in a rush?

Anyone know anything? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

If you're not in a rush you probably shouldn't make someone drive you around in a blizzard.

My neighbor is digging his truck out now, it's not snowing here and I plan to only ask if he's already going somewhere. Roads are very well plowed and salted here.

Uber app operates in all weathers and seasons. But here's the thing, drivers can decide if they want to drive for Uber during the snow, and so if all drivers in your area made the same decision, then there won't be any drivers online. But you never know, there could be more drivers coming on later, so I'd suggest you keep checking. Also apparently if you press on the no cars available button it will start searching anyway, so if a driver goes online right then, he will be connected to you Make sure to tip your driver nicely for coming out in the snow.

Thank you so much for answering me. You told me everything I wanted to know. And I ALWAYS tip my driver at least $5.00 on regular days - I worked for tips my whole life - today I would tip at least $10.00.

I was stunned when one of my Uber drivers told me ALOT of people don't tip or say they're going to tip on the app, but never do. I always tip in cash so it's in the driver's hand right away. Thank you again!

No one answered you here, so I will reiterate: Good Lord! Please do not make other people drive today. What a selfish fucking notion. Stay home! We knew it was going to snow last weekend. You could’ve gone to the store then.

Seriously? “Make” someone drive? Any driver that’s out there online is trying to make money, and it was their choice to sign on. Ffs

A driver that is on the road during the storm, means that he's ready to drive. No one is making people drive in the snow, it's the driver's decision to do so

The opposite is true. a driver that's on the road wants to make that extra money, so support your local drivers by taking trips and tipping.
