The most interesting team coming into this season?

OWL

Since we're getting to the new season slowly but surely, I have to ask all of you what is the most interesting team coming into this season? Not the best or worst but the one that you will make sure to check out their games to see how they turn out.

While there are a decent amount, NYXL and Defiant are easily the biggest ones for me. With the NYXL basically getting rid of everyone but JJonak and getting a decent amount of rookies with the DPS and Main support, a MT who didn't have a great first outing in OWL, and keeping IMT who a lot of fans wanted gone makes me interested in how they bounce back after last seasons.

With Defiant, I think it's just that with a rookie flex DPS, a rookie support line, and an off-tank that barely even played last season is something that could lead to either a pretty mediocre team or a top 5 team honestly. Also, seeing Heesu take the main hitscan instead of a backup will be interesting.

Bisaed, obviously, but I'm really excited to see how Chengdu perform having a proper main tank for the first time in their history, as well as to see if Farway can cement himself as the best Chinese flex support and if Leave can consistently pop off games under one of the best coaching staffs China can offer.

Chengdu has quietly been amassing some of the top players in the Chinese region but still get consistently written off as a bad team. I can't wait to see them fully unleashed with Rui back and Ga9a for non-Ball comps.

Maybe ga9a with ball too. The dude's cracked, was fielded over ameng in Shanghai masters

JustWantedToSay5143KAAAAAAAAAAAN! — :dallas-fuel::paris-eternal:•

Yeah ga9a is also cracked at ball, but Ameng is just something else lmao

antoniokjaver•

Honestly I think Gaga is better. I think ameng is quite good but a large part of his reputation is that he always played wrecking ball even when it was not meta. Just having the most play time doesn't really mean he is the best. And gaga is very very good on ball

I'm really curious to see how much Boston levels up this season with Lori as HC. I'm hoping they have a similar storyline to s3 Paris and their written off veteran players get to pop off, hopefully alongside cracked rookies like Valentine and Faith.

If they get them, they still haven't fully announced them but I do hope they can get them.

JustWantedToSay5143KAAAAAAAAAAAN! — :dallas-fuel::paris-eternal:•

I mean at the very least they should get an actual main support lol.

KoolsmanOP#1 Mer1t/Faith Simp — :hangzhou-spark::boston-uprising:•

Yeah, I think they actually will get faith or their academy guy but Valentine I have a feeling they he might go somewhere else but who knows.

JustWantedToSay5143KAAAAAAAAAAAN! — :dallas-fuel::paris-eternal:•

I'm not as sure anymore but either Faith or Valentine joining Boston given how long it's been since anything was reported about those rumors, and you're right that Dridro from Uprising Academy is looking pretty likely at this point.

Yeah, i am really curious to see what a veteran like Soon can add to the team. Never been a Boston fan, but i will be watching the team with anticipation.

Chengdu, NYXL, Toronto. All have multiple new, solid pieces. It will be cool to see if these teams can come together.

KoolsmanOP#1 Mer1t/Faith Simp — :hangzhou-spark::boston-uprising:•

I really hope Toronto does. I like Aztec and Na1st a lot.

5
Heroicshrub•

Yea i expect those two to perform well. To me this teams success will rely on high peformances from ASJ (looks good, but lets proven than Aztac) and Michelle (what happened with Seoul???).

4
KoolsmanOP#1 Mer1t/Faith Simp — :hangzhou-spark::boston-uprising:•

Michelle is the biggest question mark on the team. Yes, he did play well in S2 but in S3, for how little he played, he didn't play great and his sigma has barely been seen since Gesture and Marvel have always been the sigmas.

If I can see Wya and Superrich and Silver3 finally play, I'll be fine with it.

It would be some good from this whole situation

For me it's Hangzhou, they have so many different rosters they could field so I'm interested how they're gonna use all their talent. Also it's pretty cool how they can almost field both one full Chinese roster and one full Korean roster

It all comes down to coaching. I really hope it works out.

it's a shame they went to apac because we aren't getting to see the shitshow that is valiant vs paris

They can get great supports and dps but tanks are a huge worry, though I hope they get Silver3. Off tank is a big quesiton though.

Boston because of Terence Tarlier

Chengdu because I want to see this all chinese team perform well and I believe they have the pieces to cause a lot of upsets.

LaikaOW :new-york-excelsior:•

In my opinion this has potential to be the best season of OWL by far. We have some cool story lines for teams. Established players facing off against rookies in hype regional tournaments. If we can learn from the mistakes of last season it could really be a sick season.

London it will be interesting to see what the most dominant team in eu does in owl with a blasé that actually gets to play his hero pool

13
PositioningOTP :grandmaster::flag-nl:•

Still sad they broke the undefeated team up. Why didn't they just pick up all 6? Why? You have a 20mln buy-in and you can't get a bedroom and 50k for an extra player?

2
Fernylikesbeef :philadelphia-fusion::los-angeles-gladiators:•

I'm gonna go with Spark. Half their roster is Korean and the other half is Chinese, so seeing how the coaches are going to handle this mixed roster interests me a lot. There are a lot of stacked positions and I wanna see if they can mesh well together. In my opinion, no starting position is safe. Maybe Guxue is the safest but Takoyaki has so much potential to surpass him.

Btw I am not even a spark fan lol

Seeing if dallas are gonna be a power house. And boston if they get valentine, gbs and faith

Dallas actually not being garbage would be fun. I want to see Fearless and Hanbin kill it.

Putting aside my NYXL bias, I'm really curious to see how good Justice are. Half their roster is exhilarating, half the roster puts me to sleep. Curious if the exciting pieces carry the team up or if the less exciting pieces drag the team down. Or, in the dream scenario, the less exciting players completely renew their reputations. Excited to see!

I’m actually interested in Houston. This is a team with a lot of question marks but I would argue a very promising coaching staff. I’m curious to see if the coaches are able to instil a proper structure and team environment. And I mean they have Happy and Danteh. Two absolutely cracked out gamers that I’ve been a big fan of for a while. I think there’s a chance for them to be the Paris of this year.

5
magicwithakickMarried Man Energy — :new-york-excelsior:•

I think it’s Paris for me. I think they could legit be a solid roster even though the EU teams are looked down on.

KoolsmanOP#1 Mer1t/Faith Simp — :hangzhou-spark::boston-uprising:•

I'm excited to see how Kaan and see how Tsuna does. Plus Naga is a freak.

1
magicwithakickMarried Man Energy — :new-york-excelsior:•

Yep, Kaan seems great and they have really strong dps. I think Neptuno also helps this roster a lot. Tank line is probably the weakest part but they’re not bad.

3
KoolsmanOP#1 Mer1t/Faith Simp — :hangzhou-spark::boston-uprising:•

Even with the tweet about it being better then everyone in trials, I’m interested in seeing how Daan stands up to Hadi.

Personally, I think it's going to be great seeing the Boston boys under some good coaching. I genuinely think that Fusions is going to have a SADO eske redemption year, colourhex might become a lot better as a specialist, punk has already shown signs of greatness and can hopefully only get better and obviously m-bong is fucking brilliant.

Mix that with some good outside talent like Soon and Stand1 and some "rookies" like im37 (yea he was in OWL but it was on s2 torontotwo) and I think Boston can genuinely become a solid mid table team with some dark horse potential

4
randomterran•

Personally I am probably most interested in how Washington will do this season

4
KoolsmanOP#1 Mer1t/Faith Simp — :hangzhou-spark::boston-uprising:•

I feel like if they disappoint in any way, this team would be one of the biggest disappointments in OWL history. I don’t think it will happen but it’s going to be interesting with this.

3
randomterran•

Personally I think Gladiators will disappoint despite how good their roster looks, I think they will still be middle of the pack

5
neddoge•

I think the most interesting team is going to be the Houston Dantehs. They made some big swings so seeing if they pan out and flip the script from their history will definitely be fun to watch.

I'm excited to keep an eye on the Hangzhou and Guangzhou rosters.

Hangzhou to see how they perform with their 12 player roster (because we know how that's turned out for most teams who tried it), what kind of lineups they'll run, how some of the rookies will turn out. And Guangzhou mainly for the rookie talent like MYKaylee and ChoiSehwan.
