Bauer has a Cy. Price has a Cy. And Clayton Kershaw, who improved his velocity and command to continue to fight off the effects of his high career innings log, has three Cys. That alone is enough to make the opposition sigh.

The Mets need to resign Porcello and sign Arrieta and then we can match them with our three Cy Young winners!

Eh, just bring back Bartolo and Johan instead. They'd be just as good lol.

Yankees have a lot of questions, but the upside is ridiculous. It’s not like they’ve got Cole and a bunch of no talent bums.

36
AuntBettysNutButterToronto Blue Jays :tor4:•

Of course there is upside but Kluber, Sevy, and Taillon have also thrown a combined total of 79 innings since the start of 2019. That's essentially a coin flip for each and every one of them being effective this season. I think potential should land them on this list but uncertanty should knock them down from 4th.

42
papoluca12New York Yankees :nyy3:•

Ok? You just can’t assume an Injury? Mets have a ton of question marks too.

-29
AuntBettysNutButterToronto Blue Jays :tor4:•

Well I wasn't even referring specifically to injury I was just referring to the fact that 60% of the Yankees projected rotation practically hasn't pitched in 2 years, and Jordan Montgomery is still largely unproven.

And yah the Mets have question marks but at least most of their guys have pitched a full season recently.

13
TheZooBoyLos Angeles Dodgers :lad3:•

Fangraphs’ projections really likes the Yankees rotation.

31

High risk, high reward rotation

This will age like milk or wine. No In between

4
esperadokPhiladelphia Phillies :phi2:•

Think you’re really underestimating how much it helps to have the second best pitcher in baseball in your rotation.

25
RedTeamGo_•

1/5 of the rotation. I am not. Nobody has any idea what Kluber is going to be this year and he’s your 2nd or 3rd best starter. It’s a joke ranking.

0†
papoluca12New York Yankees :nyy3:•

That’s why is a projection

Doesn't matter what it is, they will always put Yankees in top 5 for clicks.

“The Yankees players might seem to have a disadvantage when nobody allow to have beard on the team. However, what people might not realize that some have amazing invisible beard and other do jones their beautiful beard in a different location, yes I mean inside their pants. So that’s why we put them at number 3 on this list.”

10
morelikeaaronfudgeNew York Yankees :nyy3:•

This is the only thing we aren't top 5 in. Otherwise, there's been very good reasons to rank the Yankees as AL favorites the past few years. Injuries beat us probably as much as you guys did in the end.

2
the_stigs_cousinWashington Nationals :was1:•

Don’t forget the cheating. You guys also got beat by that.

6
_sebquirosa_Cincinnati Red Stockings :cin4:•

Well, it's too early to tell really. If everyone's up to their full potential, I'd rate us at 5, after Dodgers, Braves, Padres and Mets. That's a big if, though.

12
RedTeamGo_•

Uh huh

-6†
pjokinenMinnesota Twins :min3:•

The first paragraph of the write-up talks about how good the projections are and then the second paragraph talks about how unlikely it is that 3/5ths of that rotation will be back to their old selves. They wrote that and still said “yeah, better than 26 other teams for sure this definitely isn’t big market bias”

10
HochseeflotteSt. Louis Cardinals :stl1:•

The Yankees shouldn’t be fourth. We have too many question marks behind Cole. The only think we have going for us is that we have like 9 starters. Cole, Monty, German, Kluber, Taillon, Deivi, Schmidt, and Sevy. So we will not run out when half of them are injured

77
morelikeaaronfudgeNew York Yankees :nyy3:•

Yeah too many question marks to put us there. But if kluber and Taillon are as good as projected we might be somewhere around there. Supposedly they looked very good.

10
HochseeflotteSt. Louis Cardinals :stl1:•

Our rotation is very high risk but high reward. Our placement here will either age like milk or wine. No in between

TheZooBoyLos Angeles Dodgers :lad3:•

Remember when the Padres traded for Mike Clevinger, the best pitcher available at the 2020 Trade Deadline? He’s not going to throw a pitch for them in 2021, and yet the Dodgers still project to have one of the best rotations in the game after the Yu Darvish (4.0 projected WAR, per Steamer), Blake Snell (2.9) and Joe Musgrove (2.5) acquisitions.

15
sumalumadingdngAtlanta Braves :atl1:•

Yeah. My guess is we just have question marks like Soroka returning to form, Anderson continuing to dominate. If our 3 young guns are at the top of their game watch out

6
NatFish93San Diego Padres :sdp2:•

How are the Braves not higher? They will get Soroka back and they signed Morton. Thats a really solid rotation

10
profmcstabbinsAtlanta Braves :atl3:•

Still young, recovering Soroka, old Morton, Smyly is real? That's how I would see it. What the article doesn't talk about is the depth which has been a strength for two seasons. There is still Wilson, Kyle Wright (sad trombone), Jaseel De La Cruz and the greatest starting pitcher in history, AJ Minter.

8
squirrelmasterzeroLos Angeles Dodgers :lad2:•

Yankees at 4 makes less than zero sense.

Mets should be #2. Too many questions with the Padres starters for them to be ranked anywhere near better than the Mets.

A's had a solid rotation last season and they are all back plus you add AJ Puk. I think they warrant the top 10...of course, I would put the Astros ahead of them since I am biased.

4

There ain't gonna be no Puk. He'll look unhittable in ST in his first few starts then be hurt until August.

Am I a crazy homer for thinking the WSox have a better rotation top to bottom than the Yankees? Like Cole is the only spot with an argument being over Giolito but fangraphs projects Giolito to be the best pitcher in the AL this year.

2
kozillaChicago White Sox :cws1:•

I think the Sox will be a top 3 rotation by years end. Having an elite pen is also going to help reduce the pressure on the staff and should help with strand rates. Kratz is exactly what we needed and may prove to be our best offseason move.
