[26M] Sharp pain and numbness in right quad

Not sure what details about me are needed so, here they all are: 26 year old white male. Weighing ~205lbs, recently down from ~230lbs over the last year/year and a half. Work out regularly (practically daily), but not particularly high intensity.

I am having a sharp pain on the top of my right quad when fully extended or contracted. The first time this happened was while working out almost two weeks ago, but note this was during light stretching day and while warming up. I was doing a reverse lunge and it felt like I had been stabbed or bitten by a spider (notwithstanding I don't know what those actually feel like). I'm not feeling any pain or discomfort at rest. Oddly enough, the site almost feels numb to the touch, almost like a small section of my thigh is asleep. I can't discern if the pain is in the muscle or the skin.

Although not due to the possible injury, we have taken the last week off from working out. I am still feeling the sharp pain when I fully extend my leg to stretch (I guess this would be fully contracting my quad), but I think the pain was initially triggered while doing the opposite (leg bent, quad extended).

Any idea if this could be a muscle or nerve injury? Something I need to take a rest from or get professionally looked at?
