I wish I didn’t think of stories. I can’t write

I like to write. Mostly because my brain works to much on making up stories. Recently I’ve had this story building in my brain and I hate it because I could never write it in a way that makes sense to anyone but me. This ones just really stuck in my head. I keep hearing songs that I can imagine the characters relating to or singing.

Just keep writing. Get a college class on writing, make sure the instructor is critical.

I’m taking a writing class at school just for the sale that I wanted to try and get better but I’m scared to share an original idea like this because it’s probably not any good compared to other peoples writing

I can write it for you. Or at least with you.

I used to write like this often, in tandem with my best friend who died. What sucks is their character died in the last story we wrote.

Aw I’m sorry for your loss. I’m sure anyone could write it better then me haha!

Comparing wasn’t even on my mind. I was thinking collaboration. And thank you, it destroyed much of my choices/time loss. So don’t think like that. It’s self destructive.

It sounds like a few issues. Confidence mainly. And that you haven’t found your “voice” yet or style. When I did, I became bolder with my choices. My stories and readership jumped in quality and quantity.

You’ll get there. Keep writing snd experimenting. It’s a process. And it’s a journey, not a race.

I still read books or listen to audiobooks by famous writers about the craft to sharpen my tools. I also have a Masterclass subscription online. They have several writing classes by famous authors ftom different genres. Each lesson takes 10-15 minutes and there are several with each teacher, plus downloadable pdfs for reference. I get great tips.

It’s great you’re in a class. It’s okay to write out just a scene or paragraph, then cycle back someday if you can piece it into a complete story. 👍🏼

Don’t give up! Best of luck to you!

I’d say just write the stories for you if you want to, you don’t even need to consider letting anyone else you don’t want to reading or get them published, honestly that’s probably the best feeling there was as a guy trying to make money from writing I’m always trying to balance writing for myself and for the potential customer, you don’t have to. Just enjoy it for what it is, hopefully this will help your confidence too and maybe you will write something you’re proud enough to give to the rest of the world. I know I’ve been writing for years and by the end never think what I’ve written is worth sharing, but you’ll get there, if that’s something you want to do :)

Thank you. I’ll just write for me for now. Maybe I’ll make something good😅

Then write it for yourself! If you like writing write what you want to write, and if at some point you feel confident enough to share your work try something like Wattpad. Nobody is great at writing at first and ideas tend to take time to develop themselves into something sensible. I'd go for it. Good luck

Listen, writing is a skill. You need to practice writing to get better at it. Not even Stephen King could write well when he started.

Just keep writing. Be sure to hush your inner editor so you don't get caught rewriting the same paragraph over and over.

You can do it. 😎

Write anyway, even if they're trash, especially if they're trash, because I think a lot of people would rather see some original stories than the same rehashed ideas. Practice! Start with a dialogue scene, a simple one, make it pop! You can do the thing and if all else fails find someone with similar ideas and write the story together.

If you're having trouble writing it and there's music involved, I would encourage you to turn on a camera or voice recorder and capture as much as you can. It doesn't have to be good. It doesn't have to make sense to anyone but you. But capture those ideas so you don't lose them and then you can always come back to them when you're feeling better about things...or you can look back and realize you don't want to pursue it, but at least you gave yourself the option.

Pull the trigger and write it. Just take the initiative and accept the directions you go as you feel it out. Stop holding yourself back.

Just write things down. Never known when you can use them, no?

That’s true.
